摘要： An apparatus and method for applying adhesive in a web converting machine is disclosed. In some embodiments, an adhesive application assembly is used to seal the tail of a rolled product against the rolled product. After being positioned in a location upon a roller, the rolled product is rotated and a sensor detects the location of the tail end, thereby establishing a reference for determining tail length in later operations. When the tail reaches a desired position, the adhesive application assembly applies adhesive to the tail and/or rolled product. In some embodiments, the adhesive assembly includes one or more adhesive sprayers with aperture members, and is self-cleaning. After the adhesive has been applied, the tail is wound upon the rolled product. In some embodiments, an adhesive application assembly is employed to apply adhesive to a core about which sheet material is to be wound.

摘要： A two doctor blade laminating and coating system is employed with a gravure or flexographic set up to coat adhesive onto a film and then laminate it to another film. The adhesive is pumped into the chamber and a sump receives adhesive recirculated back from the enclosed chamber. Adhesive is mixed and supplied to the sump while the process is being conducted so that the enclosed chamber is continuously full of adhesive. The preferred adhesive is a two-stage epoxy having part A and part B mixed together in a desired ratio. The adhesive is a zero VOC 100% solids laminating adhesive having a mixed viscosity of 200-1500 cps with the viscosity remaining within a desired range at room temperature, defined as a temperature range of 50-100 degrees F. for up to 3 hours. The adhesive is solventless and is unaffected by moisture. The adhesive consists of ingredients which make it permissible for use as an adhesive for laminations of films designed for food packaging pursuant to F.D.A. Regulation 175.105. The adhesive is formulated to avoid emission of odors and can be used in a four or five roll coating system.

To transform the wetting liquid glass film into a solid silicon dioxide film, the wafers lying one on top of the other are subjected to a temperature treatment.
