Abstract: A steel sheet coating method is performed by an apparatus that includes a cleaner configured to apply cleaning liquid to clean a surface of a steel sheet, a polisher that applies polishing liquid to the cleaned surface and includes at least one polishing wheel configured to polish the surface of the steel sheet, a coater that includes a plurality of coating rollers configured to coat the polished surface of the steel sheet with coating liquid, and a curing furnace including curing chambers that are configured to heat the steel sheet coated with the coating liquid, that have different heating temperatures, and that are configured to cure the coating liquid on the steel sheet based on heating the steel sheet in one chamber having a first temperature and then heating the steel sheet in another chamber having a second temperature greater than the first temperature.

Abstract: Areal weight or thickness of a moving coated metal sheet along its entire cross directional width is derived by correlating thermographic image data to online, scanning basis weight measurements. Thermal imaging camera captures thermal images of a heated moving coated metal sheet material along a cross direction at a first position along the machine direction to generate sequential temperature profiles. Scanning beta gauge measures the areal weight of the moving coated metal sheet downstream at a second position. An infrared temperature sensor also measures the temperature of the moving coated metal sheet which is at a lower temperature at or near the second position. The temperature differential between the cross directional thermographic image data and the latter infrared temperature is a function of the basis weight. Basis weight measurements from the beta gauge is used to extrapolate cross directional basis weight data.

Abstract: A method and a device for the application of starch on a moving fiber web, especially on a packaging paper web such as a testliner or a corrugated medium web, include first applying starch to a first roll and/or a second roll and passing the fiber web through a treatment nip formed by the first roll and the second roll. The starch is applied to the first roll and/or the second roll by a slot die and/or a slide die and then transferred to the fiber web in the treatment nip.

A blade device according to the present invention has: a blade member contacting with a plate roll to which coating material is to be applied; an upper holder contacting with the blade member from one surface side of the blade member; a lower holder contacting with the blade member from another surface side of the blade member; a tube contacting with the blade member and configured to expand and contract by pressure of fluid; and a tube positioning part which is provided on the upper holder and positions the tube closer to the roller, in a direction in which the blade member extends, than a tip end of the lower holder is. The tube adjusts a pressing force, of the tip end of the blade member, against the roller by being expanded or contracted while being held by the tube positioning part and the blade member.
