Abstract:
A heat pipe spreader construction includes a heat pipe with phase change media therein with a top plate and a bottom plate positioned in thermal communication with the heat pipe. A thermally conductive composition is molded about the heat pipe and between the top plate and the bottom plate to embrace and contain the heat pipe therein to form an improved net shape moldable heat spreader construction.
Abstract:
A preventive maintenance method and apparatus for quickly and precisely replacing a backing-film of a CMP machine is provided. In comparison with a conventional backing-film, the backing-film according to the present invention is pre-drilled by laser in order to bypass the restriction set by a conventional manual drilling process on the backing-film. In addition, a PM apparatus for the backing-film comprises an aligning panel having a plural first pins in order to quickly check whether drilled holes of the backing-film are aligned with the corresponding air holes or not. Therefore, the CMP machine down time due to the PM can be reduced.
Abstract:
A structure of a super-thin heat plate comprising surrounding bodies having a thin plate shape and supporting body is disclosed. Each supporting body have function of capillarity and is enclosed within the surrounding bodies. The surrounding bodies and the supporting body are connected by a plurality of welding spots, and the edges are properly sealed. The supporting body is distributed uniformly by a whole web structure. Thus, the heat plate wick structure is very stable with a preferred performance of heat transfer and can be finished easily. In mass production, the structure still has a high stability.
Abstract:
A simple and low cost method of replacing an abradable portion on the fan casing of a turbojet includes an inside heating belt together with holding sectors therefor are put into place against the abradable portion, each holding sector including an inflatable bladder, and the abradable portion and the inside heating belt being sandwiched in full between the fan casing and the bladders, the holding sectors themselves being held in place by a plurality of straps attached to the fan casing by fixing points.
Abstract:
A method facilitates replacing a portion of a gas turbine engine combustor liner. The combustor includes a combustion zone formed by inner and outer liners. The inner and outer liners each include a series of panels, and at least one of the inner and the outer liner includes an aft support coupled to an aft end of liner. The method comprises cutting through at least one of the combustor inner and the outer liner upstream from the liner aft support, removing the combustor liner aft support from the combustor, and installing a replacement aft support within the combustor such that the liner aft support extends aft ward from the portion of the combustor liner that is upstream from the cut.
Abstract:
An apparatus for repairing a liquid cooled compressor stator bar bottle clip having a groove extending around an outer surface of the bottle clip is provided. In an exemplary embodiment, the repair apparatus includes a first body portion that includes a plurality of threaded fastener openings in a first end section and a second end section of the first body portion, a second body portion that includes a plurality of threaded fastener openings in a first end section and a second end section of the second body portion, and a plurality of threaded fasteners extending through corresponding fastener openings in the first and second body portions. The fasteners connect the first and second body portions such that an elliptical opening is defined between the first and second body portions. The elliptical opening extends through the repair apparatus.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method of servicing a dry cleaning system in the home wherein the method comprises being notified or put on notice of the fact that an item or items needs servicing and providing a means (e.g., home delivery serviceperson) to inspect and, if necessary provide said servicing. The servicing may involve replacing, fixing and recycling an item or items (e.g., solvent) in need of servicing.
Abstract:
A method of refurbishing a wheel is disclosed. The method provides a standardized efficient and effective way of repairing a damaged or deformed wheel. The method includes cleaning the wheel, inspecting the wheel for damage, welding damaged areas of the wheel, straightening the wheel, machining the beat seat of the wheel, determining a finish to apply to the wheel surface, and applying a finish to the wheel.
Abstract:
A method for repairing an article made of a fiber-reinforced ceramic matrix composite comprises attaching sections of a fiber-reinforced tape to the damaged area and then infiltrating the sections with the ceramic matrix or ceramic matrix precursor material. The material around the damaged area may be removed first to form a depression that is then filled with sections of the fiber-reinforced tape and further infiltrated with the ceramic matrix or ceramic matrix precursor material. The repaired article shows stress-strain curve similar to a defect-free article.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for repairing turbine engine components, such as vanes and blades, which have airfoils. The method broadly comprises removing oxidation debris from portions of the component by blending areas exhibiting thermal barrier coating spall and/or oxidation damage, removing a ceramic insulating layer from the component, and blending surfaces of the component where nicks, dents, and/or cracks are located. If the component has a depleted aluminum zone, the depleted zone is either removed or replenished. Further, a tip portion of the component, if damaged, is restored and tip abrasives are applied to restore the component's cutting ability. Thereafter, a ceramic coating is applied to the component.
