摘要: A numerical controller having a memory device for storing a profiling program composed of a series of data blocks, each of which designates an incremental rotational amount of an oval workpiece and an incremental feed amount of a tool slide, and a digital computer for reading out the data blocks one by one from the memory device when no rough grinding is instructed, so as to provide, based upon a read-out data block, interpolation data of feed pulses which are to be distributed for tool slide feed in connection with feed pulses to be generated for workpiece rotation. In rough grinding, the digital computer reads out a predetermined number of the data blocks and accumulates profiling data included therein so as to provide interpolation data based upon the accumulated profiling data, thereby shortening processing time for providing the interpolation data in rough grinding.

摘要: A milling or grinding machine for shaping a workpiece is disclosed wherein a shaping tool is displaced relative to a rotatable workpiece in accordance with coded displacement values of a series of signals stored on a perforated tape. The signals are extracted from the tape serially and are applied to computer means, which provides further signals each coded to represent a displacement value in predetermined proportionality to the displacement represented by a respective one of the extracted signals. These further signals are translated into command signals, which are applied to a stepping motor for imparting displacement to means supporting the shaping tool. The stored signals are extracted from the tape in response to output pulses derived from a frequency divider network, the input of which is connected to a pulse generator. The pulse generator is so coupled to means for rotating the workpiece as to provide a plurality of pulses for each predetermined angular displacement of the workpiece. The frequency divider network includes a plurality of successively connected frequency divider devices, each of which is manually settable to provide output pulses equal in number to the number of pulses applied to the input of the selected frequency divider device divided by the respective divider ratio to which the selected divider device is set. By adjusting the divider ratios set at the respective divider devices, the angular displacement of the workpiece is correlated with the displacement of the shaping tool in a predetermined manner.

摘要: An industrial shaping system to form various articles including eyeglass lenses. The invention specifically discloses an eyeglass frame pattern generator and edge grinder for shaping eyeglass lenses to fit a particular frame. A sensing wheel makes contact with the internal frame groove which is designed to hold the lens. The frame pattern generator controls an edge cutter by means of a servo system to shape the lens so that it will fit into the frame groove after the grinding operation. A computing device in the frame pattern generator is arranged to correct for the inherent errors generally present in all contour devices employing a tracing mechanism and a grinding cutter where grinding is done along the circumference of the grinding wheel.

摘要: A grinding wheel assembly for use in a sharpening system includes a grinding wheel configured to be mounted in the sharpening system to carry out sharpening operations in which the grinding wheel removes material from a blade to be sharpened, such as the blade of an ice skate. The grinding wheel assembly further includes an identification tag attached to the grinding wheel, the identification tag having (1) secure memory including a usage location for persistently and securely storing a usage tracking value, and (2) interface circuitry for engaging in communication with a transceiver of the sharpening system to enable electronic circuitry of the sharpening system to both read from and write to the usage location to track usage of the grinding wheel for sharpening operations. The memory may also store other data including user-specific system parameters usable to customize operation, and fault information usable to diagnose fault conditions.

摘要: In a lens grinding apparatus, shape data of an eyeglass frame and layout data of an eyeglass lens for the eyeglass frame are input. Edge positions of front and rear surfaces of the eyeglass lens are measured on the basis of the input data. The position variation information of the front and rear surfaces of the lens with respect to a radius vector is input. An inclination angle of a finishing grinding wheel is stored. Edge positions after a finishing process are calculated on the basis of the measured edge positions, the input position variation information, and the inclination angle of the finishing grinding wheel. A chamfering grinding wheel for chamfering edge portions of a finish-processed eyeglass lens is controlled on the basis of the edge positions obtained by the edge position calculation. A chamfering process is easily performed, and particularly chamfering is uniformly performed.

摘要: A machine for grinding the peripheries of ophthalmic lenses to predetermined outlines is characterized by a head having a rotatable workholder for moving an edge of a lens against a rough grinding or finishing wheel and a pattern holder positioned vertically above the workholder for controlling movement of the lens toward and away from the grinding wheel. The head is mountd for horizontal, vertical and pivotal movement, is allowed to freely pivot during finishing or bevel edging of a lens but not during rough grinding, and is automatically locked against pivotal movement upon completion of bevel edging so that the lens may, if required, be returned to the same position against the finishing wheel. Circuitry controls movement of the head in accordance with the base curve of a lens to precisely position the lens with respect to the finsihing wheel, and maintains the machine in each of its rough grinding and finishing stages for a period of time which is sufficient to complete the grinding operation and independent of the number of rotations of the workholder.

摘要: A process and a device for grinding, especially edge grinding, of elongated objects (15), the device consisting of a basic frame (1) which supports a carriage (13) horizontally displaceable by means of a first pulse motor (23) and a scanning member or a grinding wheel (18) vertically displaceable by means of a second pulse motor (25) and where the carriage (13) is equipped with members for clamping of the object (15) to be ground, and where the carriage (13) is directly connected to members (27) for observation when the scanning member in a vertical movement comes into contact with the object (15) to be ground. The process comprises as a first step scanning of an existent profile of the object (15) to be ground, whereunder alternately (a) the carriage (13) is displaced over a little distance and (b) the scanning member is diplaced to contact with the object (15) to be ground, which values are recorded and treated in a connected computer (7) to be utilized thereafter in a second step for control of the grinding wheel (18) which thereunder exactly imitates the scanned and computed values.

摘要: An improved lens grinding apparatus of the type including a grinding wheel for grinding lens blank, a wheel shaft for mounting the grinding wheel and two lens shafts adapted to rotatably clamp lens blank therebetween. The apparatus further includes a writing device for scribing a band of magnetized zone on the magnetic sheet by means of a writing magnet on the free end of the first arm, a reading device for reading the contour line of the magnetized zone by means of hole elements on the second arm and a center distance changing device for changing the center distance between the wheel shaft and the lens shafts in response to changing of the configuration of the contour line. These devices are operatively associated with one another and operations of each of them are controlled by a control system. The magnetic sheet is first magnetized to a certain polarity by a demagnetizing magnet and the magnetized zone is then magnetized to another polarity by a writing magnet on the first arm which is located in alignment with the follower roller adapted to contact with the V-shaped groove of a lens frame. The center distance changing device includes a moving block which is operatively connected to the lens shaft. One of two motors on the moving block has an output shaft which serves to turn the second arm.
