Abstract: The present invention provides a more effective method of treating a spot or stain on a textile fabric, the method comprising the steps of: applying a detergent composition to the spot or stain; placing an absorbent layer adjacent to one side of the textile fabric in the region of the spot or stain; and applying heat, pressure, or heat and pressure, to the opposing side of the textile fabric in the region of the spot or stain, preferably in the presence of a hydrophilic solvent, or water, so that some or all of the spot or stain is absorbed into the absorbent layer. The detergent composition can be applied to the textile fabric using a container having a cap to which a foam pad is secured. The cap has a small opening through which the detergent composition can pass.

Abstract: A spray-dried particulate detergent composition containinga) 3% to 20% by weight of anionic surfactant,b) 0 to 2% by weight of nonionic surfactant,c) 20% to 65% by weight of inorganic builders, based on water-free active substance, selected from carbonates, hydrogen carbonates and silicate-based builders, andd) 0 to 25% by weight of neutral salts, based on the weight of the spray-dried composition, wherein the spray-dried composition has been aftertreated with nonionic surfactant. The composition has favorable dispensing and solubility properties.

Abstract: The present invention relates to water-soluble, acid-groups-containing graft copolymers which are at least partially biodegradable and are based on sugars and monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids, sulfonic acids and/or phosphonic acids or the salts of said acids as well as optional further monomers. The present invention further relates to a process for producing the graft copolymers at temperatures of up to 200.degree. C. by means of radical polymerization initiators, in that a total mixture of 5-60%-wt. mono-, di- and oligosaccharides, the derivatives thereof or the mixtures thereof, and 95-40%-wt. of a monomer mixture comprising at least one monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, at least one monoethylenically unsaturated sulfonic acid, one monoethylenically unsaturated sulfuric acid ester and/or vinylphosphonic acid or the salts of said acids with monovalent cations, as well as optional further monomers is polymerized. The present invention further relates to the use of the graft copolymers in aqueous systems, for binding multivalent metal ions, inhibiting the water hardness, as additive in detergents and cleaning agents, as textile auxiliary, dispersing agent, in particular for pigments, and as auxiliary agent in the production of paper and leather.

Abstract: Bleach boosters comprising quaternary imine zwitterions are disclosed. The bleach boosters increase bleaching effectiveness in lower temperature solutions and demonstrate superior color safety profiles. The bleach boosters are ideally suited for inclusion into bleaching compositions including those with detersive surfactants and enzymes. Also provided is a laundry additive product including quaternary imine zwitterions. A method for laundering a fabric employing the bleach boosters of the present invention is also disclosed.
