    摘要: The rotary positive displacement compressor has an intermediate port (42) for fluid from an intermediate pressure channel (30) and has a bleed port (44) for recirculation of partly compressed fluid through a return channel (32). It is suggested to provide the compressor with valve means (36), selectively adjustable between two end positions. In a first end position it opens up a direct communication between these channels (30, 32) and opens the bleed port (44), whereby fluid flows directly from the intermediate pressure channel (30) to the return channel (32) simultaneously as fluid within the working space of the compressor flows to the return channel (32) through the intermediate port (42) as well as through the bleed port (44). In a second end position the bleed port (44) is closed and said direct communication is blocked. The disclosure also relates to a refrigeration plant comprising such a compressor.

    摘要: The present invention provides an improved rotary machine of the type having male and female rotors with complementary intermeshing helical teeth. The improvement relates to the profile of the teeth, particularly the teeth of the male rotor, so that there is a reduction of the phenomenon of wedging of the sealing, lubricating or cooling liquid molecules and a reduction of the wedging of the molecules of gaseous fluid between the bores and apices of the teeth. The improved profile of the teeth and the resulting reduction of the wedging phenomenon prevents a loss of power which is typical in the prior art screw-type rotary machines.

    摘要: A rotary expansible chamber device capable of functioning as a compressor or fluid motor is made up of a housing containing two or more parallel working chambers wherein each chamber contains an impeller. Adjacent impellers mate with each other and the housing in a fluid tight relationship with each impeller being made up of a multiplicity of risers of uniform cross section wherein each riser has one or more lobes and one or more adjacent wells. The risers along each impeller are axially offset from each other in a spiraling relationship with each impeller containing risers of at least two different heights. As the impellers rotate, a compressible gas is forced to travel axially along the working chambers through the riser wells. As the compressible gas travels through the working chambers it becomes sealed within adjacent wells along an impeller in the form of a stepped spiral gas volume. The sealed volume will change in size as it travels along the axial length of the impeller as a function of impeller rotation and change in riser height.

In order to ensure sufficient pressure on the lift valves to effect closing, the wall of the lift valves is shaped with two different diameters and a sharply defined step therebetween. Upon closing, the sharply defined step is influenced by a pressure which is lower than the pressure influencing the end surfaces of the lift valve.

    摘要: A method of manufacturing a rotor (70) for use in an air motor. A shaft (10) is machined to have bearing surfaces (16 and 18) and adjacent ends (12 and 14), respectively. A working surface (20) with helix grooves (22, 24 and 26) is machined into the shaft (10). A locking surface (34) is machined into the shaft between the working surface (20) and end (14). A ring (36) is machined with helix grooves (38, 40 and 42) on its periphery and an inner diameter (44). The inner diameter has a diameter less than the locking surface (34) but greater than the bearing surface (18). The ring (36) is placed on bearing surface (18) of shaft (10). The shaft (10) with ring (36) on bearing surface (18) is placed in a fixture (50) and a tension force is applied to ends (12) and 14 ). The tension force causes the shaft (10) to axially expand and radially contract. When the diameter of the locking surface (34) is approximately equal to the diameter (44) of the ring (36), the ring (36) is pushed into contact with the working surface (20). After the helix grooves (22, 24, 26) are aligned with helix grooves (38, 40 and 42), the tension force is released allowing the locking surface to expand and frictionally hold the shaft (10) and ring (36) together such that a herringbone pattern is formed for rotor (70).

    摘要: A positive displacement rotary compound chamber motor comprises a piston rotor and a barrier rotor rotating cooperatively in a ported housing. The piston rotor has a compound piston which during rotation sweeps out a compound working chamber. The barrier rotor has a small piston which sweeps out a high pressure (HP) chamber. A flange on the piston rotor is the barrier for the HP chamber. All pistons mesh with recesses in the rotor assemblies. During operation, the HP chamber is filled with HP gas, which then expands in the compound chamber. A compound piston larger than the small piston achieves a high expansion ratio. A leakage path from the HP chamber to exhaust is blocked by the addition of an intermediate piston and its meshing intermediate recess.

    摘要: An improved screw compressor for the compression and axial displacement of a gas is set forth. The compressor is of the type having a housing formed with an axially extending passage. The axially extending passage has at one axial end thereof a gas inlet and at the other axial end thereof a gas outlet. The male rotor is formed with a plurality of helical ribs having generally convex flanks and root regions which are at least partially formed as involutes in cross section. Each rib of the male rotor has a profile consisting of a leading flank formed at least partially as an involute generated from a first base circle and a trailing flank at least partially formed as an involute generated from a second base circle.
