    摘要: A discharge chamber for an arc discharge metal halide lamp having light permeable walls bounding a discharge region in which ionizable materials are provided with at least one electrode accommodation opening therein extending along a selected path between that discharge region and a region outside those walls. An electrode arrangement extends through the electrode accommodation opening having therein a thin electrical conductor positioned at least in part therein with a major surface that has surface curvature in at least some of those portions thereof positioned in said electrode accommodation opening to be in one of many alternative configurations. A sealing frit of mixed metal oxides is positioned about at least a portion of the thin electrical conductor within the electrode accommodation opening both at the major surface thereof and on an opposite side thereof.

    摘要: The reliability of the airtight sealed section is improved by providing a metallic or ceramic insertion member at a portion positioned between an electricity introducing member and a narrow tube in the airtight sealed section. The difference between the inner diameter of the narrow tube and the outer diameter of the insertion member is made 0.02 to 0.6 mm. The electricity introducing member is constructed by a halogen-resistant first member and a second member whose coefficient of linear expansion is similar to that of the narrow tube, and the junction of the first member and second member is covered with a halogen-resistant glass sealant. The difference between the insertion length of the second member into the narrow tube and the flow-in length of the glass sealant into the narrow tube is made 1 mm or more.

    摘要: The present invention has an object to provide a cold-cathode discharge lamp which can suppress sputtering on a lead-in wire and reduce consumption of mercury so as to achieve a longer lifetime without increasing an amount of applied mercury. The cold-cathode discharge lamp of the present invention is characterized in that a lead-in wire connected to a cylindrical electrode in a lighting tube is made of a material same as a material that forms the cylindrical electrode. It is possible to suppress concentration negative glow discharge shifted to the lead-in wire and to allow the electrode to be covered with even negative glow discharge. Thus, it is possible to reduce mercury consumed by excessive sputtering on the outer surface of the internal lead-in wire and to achieve a longer lifetime of the cold-cathode discharge lamp.
