    摘要: A flexible web which is caused to run through a cross cutter to be severed at regular intervals in order to yield a series of discrete sections is engaged by a pair of holders which attract the web by suction immediately behind the severing plane when the cutter severs the web. The holders advance with the web and thereafter with the freshly formed section to prevent changes in orientation of the sections on their way to a removing station where they are expelled from the path of the web by block-shaped commodities which are draped into the respective sections. The surfaces of the holders are small and the length of each holder is a minute fraction of the length of a section, as considered in the longitudinal direction of the web. The holders are mounted on endless toothed belt or chain conveyors which advance the holders along an endless path having an elongated reach extending adjacent to the path of movement of the web and its sections toward, past and beyond the severing station.

The sliced matting can then be conveniently cut transversely on the same machine, if desired, to form diced brittle fiber matting. The backing roller is freely rotatably mounted about its axis of rotation. Thus, the cutting member cuts at different locations along the circumferential surface of the backing roller each time. The backing roller is resiliently mounted to float in a direction transverse to a plane extending vertically through its axis of rotation. The roller is mounted on a carrier body that is laterally movable to effect movement of the roller in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the roller. Unique timing belt and gear drive mechanisms are used to effect driving of the draw rollers and cutting devices. A particular guide mechanism is used to direct the tear strip from a supply to the point where it is superimposed on a web of wrapping material.

    摘要: There is disclosed an apparatus and a method for processing edibles, such as fruit, which are sliced and then sectioned. Watermelon is one of such edibles or fruit which is first sliced generally transverse of its long axis. These sliced pieces are automatically fed and moved to apparatus for sectioning the fruit. These sliced portions with their ends removed are then fed by automatic means into a sectioning apparatus where these circular portions of fruit are then cut into pie-shaped sections. After sectioning, a stick may be inserted into each sectional piece. The sectioned pieces may be wrapped and/or frozen, if desired. The apparatus and method steps are automatically and repetitively produced with appropriate high speeds that deliver shaped segments to further processing such as wrapping and/or freezing.

    摘要: Parallelepipedic packing containers are made and filled in succession by passing a continuous web of packaging material over a forming device which converts the web into tubular form with an overlapped longitudinal seam. The tube is then filled with the intended contents, e.g., a liquid and is then divided off into individual packing containers by first pressing the tube transversely at longitudinally spaced intervals along broad zones and the opposite sides of the flattened tube are heat-sealed to each other along two narrow sealing regions close to the opposite base lines of the flattened zone while the remaining portions of the flattened zone remain non-sealed. The filled portion of the packing container between successive flattened zones is then reformed into the desired parallelepipedic shape, and the packages are then separated from each other by cutting through the non-sealed portion of the flattened zones thus leaving fins which are then folded down against the opposite side walls of the container to stiffen and reinforce the same. The cutting of the double-walled, non-sealed flattened zone is done quite closely to the narrow sealing regions and in such manner that the fins formed on each package have a single material thickness along substantially the full length of the sealing regions.
