    Abstract: A fault monitoring method is executed by a monitoring device in a fault monitoring system that includes a terminal used by a user, an appliance to be operated by the user, the monitoring device, and a plurality of authentication servers each including a distributed ledger, and includes: obtaining event information stored in the plurality of authentication servers and indicating an event generated in response to a request that includes a processing instruction for the user operating the appliance; obtaining state information indicating whether the appliance is faulty, from the appliance; generating first transaction data including the state information obtained and transmitting the first transaction data to the plurality of authentication servers; and transmitting the processing instruction included in the event information to the appliance, when the appliance is determined to be not faulty from the state information.

    Abstract: In a terminal (200), a Pre-IFFT unit (204) generates a signal waveform for multicarrier transmission (OFDM) or single carrier transmission (DFT-s-OFDM) in uplink. A transmitter (208) transmits a signal with the generated signal waveform using a resource block (PRB) allocated to the terminal (200). In this process, a restriction is imposed on the number of resource blocks for which the Pre-IFFT unit (204) is allowed to generate the signal waveform for the single carrier transmission. Thus, it is possible to efficiently switch between OFDM and DFT-s-OFDM in the signal waveform generation.

    Abstract: A three-dimensional data encoding method is a three-dimensional data encoding method of encoding a plurality of three-dimensional points, and includes: selecting one prediction mode for calculating, using attribute information of a second three-dimensional point in a vicinity of a first three-dimensional point, a predicted value of attribute information of the first three-dimensional point; calculating a predicted value according to the one prediction mode; calculating a prediction residual that is a difference between the attribute information of the first three-dimensional point and the predicted value; and generating a bitstream that includes the one prediction mode and the prediction residual, and in the calculating of the predicted value, a predetermined fixed value is calculated as a predicted value calculated according to the one prediction mode in a case in which a predicted value based on the attribute information of the second three-dimensional point is not assigned to the one prediction mode.

    Abstract: An encoder includes memory and circuitry which: (i) encodes an image block; (ii) when encoding the image block: binarizes coefficient information indicating coefficients of the image block; and controls whether to apply arithmetic encoding to a binary data string obtained by binarizing the coefficient information; and (iii) when binarizing the coefficient information: binarizes the coefficient information according to a first syntax structure when arithmetic encoding is applied to the data string and a predetermined condition is not satisfied; binarizes the coefficient information according to a second syntax structure when arithmetic encoding is applied to the data string and the predetermined condition is satisfied; binarizes the coefficient information according to the second syntax structure when no arithmetic encoding is applied to the data string; and subtracts 1 from a value of an initial non-zero coefficient when no arithmetic encoding is applied to the data string when encoding the image block.

    Abstract: A processor: transmits detection information detected by a first device and user information obtained by a second device to a network; determines that a first event occurred based on the detection information and the user information; determines content based on the first event; and notifies the user of the content by transmitting data indicating the content to the first or second device via the network after elapse of a given amount of time predetermined per event from an occurrence of the first event. The first event potentially causes a problem in at least one of a home, property, or physical body of the user, or a service expected by the user. The content is at least one of a product or service for addressing the problem, or insurance that provides compensation for damages incurred by the user if the problem were to actually occur.
