Abstract:
A slider assembly for a slide fastener is disclosed with a slider body with a locking spring for preventing accidental opening movement and with an elongate link for releasing the locking spring. A pull tab pivotally connected with the link is movable between a locked position and an operative position wherein the link is moved to abut the locking spring and move a locking end thereof to an unlocked condition. The slider assembly is particularly useful with slide fasteners of the concealed type in that the slider assembly is substantially hidden from view in locked position.
Abstract:
Apparatus is provided for securing a door frame casing piece to a side jamb rapidly and effectively. The apparatus operates to hold the casing piece and side jamb in door frame relation while causing the side jamb to be toenailed to the casing piece and the casing piece to be square nailed to the side jamb. The nailing is done by respective fastener forming and inserting means, at least one of which is uniquely arranged to actuate feeding of a fastener length of wire stock, forming of a fastener from the fed length, and insertion of the formed fastener, from the working stroke of a reciprocating plunger.
Abstract:
Gapped and cleaned slide fastener chains including a pair of carrier tapes having their inner edges folded upon themselves to provide a seam-like appearance and having a plurality of filamentary stringers attached to the folded portions of the carrier tape at intervals separated by gapped and cleaned areas with stitching threads securing the stringers to the folded portions and running continuously through the gapped and cleaned areas. A method of making gapped and cleaned seam-type slide fastener chain of the above described type including supporting the slide fastener chain with the filamentary stringers exposed, positioned a plurality of vibrating heads over the exposed stringers in frictional engagement therewith, reciprocating the vibrating heads in a transverse direction relative to the slide fastener chain, and moving the slide fastener chain such that the filamentary stringers sequentially pass under each of the vibrating heads. Apparatus for making gapped and cleaned seamtype slide fastener chain of the above described type includes a guide for supporting the slide fastener chain, a plurality of vibrating heads disposed over the chain in frictional engagement with the filamentary stringers, drive rollers cooperating with the guide for moving the slide fastener chain such that stringers sequentially pass under each of the vibrating heads, and a vibrator for reciprocating the vibrating heads relative to the slide fastener chain to remove severed portions of the filamentary stringers.
Abstract:
A portable fastener driving device of the conventional pneumatic type having an improved actuating mechanism including an acutating member mounted for movement from a normal inoperative position into an operative position for initiating the movement of the fastener driving means through a fastener driving stroke, a contact trip mounted for movement from a normal inoperative position into an operative position in response to the movement of said device into cooperating engagement with a workpiece, a trigger mounted for manual movement from a normal inoperative position into an operative position and an enabling structure operatively associated with the actuating member, the trigger and the contact trip for (1) enabling movement of the trigger into its operative position when the contact trip is in its inoperative position without movement of the actuating member into its operative position, (2) enabling movement of the trigger into its operative position when the contact trip is in its operative position to effect movement of the actuating member into its operative position, and (3) enabling movement of the contact trip into its operative position when the trigger is in its operative position without movement of the actuating member into its operative position.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a rotary type gas meter having a shaft, a primary section and a secondary rotor section proportional to each other in displacement, the rotors of each section being secured to said shaft, and a temperature controlled valve means which diverts the output of the secondary rotor section proportionally to either the outlet of the primary rotor section or back to the inlet of the secondary rotor section, the proportions being such that the total flow of metered gas issuing from said meter is adjusted to a base temperature in accordance with Charles law regardless of the temperature of the flowing gas.
Abstract:
In a pre-engineered metal building a wall having an opening closed off by a panel connected by a number of fasteners which will insure weather, structural and wind load integrity under normal conditions but which will allow the panel to swing away upon the occurance of an interior explosion and thus provide a pressure relieving vent.
Abstract:
The speed of the individual rolls in multiple roll bridle systems is made adjustable and independent of roll diameter for maximum alteration of strip passing over the rolls, by providing first, plural, independent drive means for a plurality of corresponding rolls in each of a set of entry rolls and a set of exit rolls, and second drive means providing common power input to a plurality of rolls in each said sets. The second drive means is adapted to provide, through a gear train including infinitely variable speed transmission means and differential transmission means, dual power takeoffs to corresponding dual planetary gear systems.
Abstract:
A floor fitting including a housing made of clear polycarbonate plastic and having a painted interior surface, the clear plastic providing a colored appearance for the fitting and also protecting the colored surface from damage as by scuffing, etc.
Abstract:
There is disclosed herein an improved seal device for aircushion vehicles, surface effect ships, or the like; consisting of a plurality of discrete, vertically elongate, closed, bucketshaped cell members which are disposed serially in side-by-side free-sliding relation, and which are formed of flexible fabric and are inflated to pressures greater than the associated aircushion pressure. At their upper ends the cells are firmly affixed to the vehicle structure so as to extend therebelow in cantilever mounted relation, and in side view are of acute angle form terminating in apex configurations at their bottom ends. Thus the cells are individually deformable, but are pneumatically resilient; and due to their higher pressured condition automatically spring back and return to their normal configurations after being deflected when passing over obstacles or waves with more positive control of the transiently confined air cushion than within the capabilities of prior air-cushion sealing devices. The cell members are preferably mounted relative to the ''''hard'''' frame or hull structure of the vehicle so as to splay outwardly from the vertical view perimeters thereof; thereby enhancing the non-scooping and non-snagging performance of the system, while also increasing the air-cushion area relative to the ''''hard'''' structure. Thus, the invention operates more efficiently and with a greatly reduced drag effect (attendant frictional contacts with the surface over which the vehicle is travelling) due to the shape of the cell members as well as to their angle of contact with the reaction surface.
Abstract:
A powered folding mechanism includes a locking pin for normally retaining a blade of a rotary wing aircraft in an extended position relative to a blade grip and a cam for rotation in one direction to first withdraw the locking pin and then fold the blade and for rotation in the opposite direction to first return the blade to the extended position and then re-engage the locking pin. Two embodiments of the powdered folding mechanism are disclosed, one of which operates directly on the blade and the other of which operates by means of a drag link connected between the grip and the blade.
