Abstract:
An electrical device includes a cradle and a terminal. The cradle includes a body portion, a transition portion, and a connection portion. The body portion includes a transition portion that is bent from the body portion and extends between the body portion and the connection portion. The connection portion includes a plate extending away from the body portion. The terminal includes a main wall and a slip receiver connected to and angled away from the main wall. The slip receiver includes first and second walls connected by an integral receiver bridge. The slip receiver slidably receives the plate of the connection portion to establish an electrical connection between the cradle and the terminal. The plate of the connection portion of the cradle is at least partially disposed between the first and second walls of the slip receiver to complete the electrical connection between the cradle and the common terminal.
Abstract:
A fuse test and ground device includes an insulated housing with a bore that extends from the front of the housing towards the rear of the housing. An electrical contact is disposed partially within the bore. A current interrupter, such as a fuse, is electrically connected between the contact and a testing ground lead. An eye, having it's surface insulated by the housing, can be attached to the housing and provide a connection point for manipulation of the device. A grounding bore extends from a second aperture into the housing and provides an electrical connection to the contact. A grounding plug can be connected to ground on one end and inserted into the grounding bore to create a permanent ground for the device. An annunciator is connected to the current interrupter such that the annunciator provides an indication when a current flows through the current interrupter.
Abstract:
A luminaire described herein reduces energy consumption without limiting the light output and beam spreads. This configuration is useful for retail applications where a dimmable point source illumination is beneficial and minimal degradation due to damaging UV, IR, and heat may be important to product shelf life. The luminaire combines a light source, a thermal management system, a printed circuit board, and optics and shielding components in a single unit to accomplish these objectives. The substantially cylindrical lighting assembly includes a plurality of LEDs configured to emit light from a front end; a thermal management system for cooling the LEDs from a back end; a printed circuit board electrically coupled to the LEDs and the thermal management system; a refractor positioned adjacent the LEDs on the front end; and a shielding component positioned along the front end of the lighting assembly.
Abstract:
Receptacles configured to securely mate with hazardous area plugs are provided. The receptacles include a housing, a locking plate, and a sliding lockout key. The sliding lockout key prevents the locking plate from rotating when the receptacle and plug are disconnected or when a standard plug is inserted into the receptacle. When the proper plug is inserted into the receptacle, the sliding key portion is depressed and allows rotation of the locking plate. Upon rotation, pins from the plug contact internal pins of the receptacle and make an electrical connection.
Abstract:
An electrical device can include a cradle having a plurality of integral cradle support regions. A trough is formed through each cradle support region. Each cradle support region includes an aperture that is configured to receive an actuator assembly. Each actuator assembly is movable to open and close electrical connections in the electrical device when the cradle is installed in the electrical device.
Abstract:
A jacket sleeve with grippable tabs provides protection to exposed portions of cable that are connected to an electrical connection. The jacket sleeve can be made as part of the electrical connector or may be connected subsequent to its creation through the use of glues or other adhesives. The jacket sleeve can be made of a material that is more pliable than the electrical connector, making it easier for a lineperson to place the sleeve over an exposed portion of cable. The jacket sleeve can include holes or slots either in the sleeve or in tabs that are attached to the sleeve. A lineperson can place one or more fingers into each hole or slot in order to get a better grip on the sleeve and pull the sleeve over the exposed portion of cable with less slippage and effort on the part of the lineperson.
Abstract:
A current transforming harvester (“CTH”) is capable of producing power from a conductor on a preexisting power grid without alteration of the conductor or the preexisting power grid. The CTH includes a current transformer (“CT”) that captures energy via magnetic flux from the conductor. The CT is substantially circular and includes two halves called a “split core,” which allow the CT to easily attach to the conductor without opening the circuit in which the conductor operates. A clamping mechanism of the CTH may secure the CTH to the conductor via a pair of spring-biased clamp pads. The CTH includes circuitry that converts the magnetic flux energy captured by the CT into electrical energy suitable for consumption by an electrical device.
Abstract:
A fault interrupter and load break switch includes a trip assembly configured to automatically open a transformer circuit electrically coupled to stationary contacts of the switch upon the occurrence of a fault condition. The fault condition causes a Curie metal element electrically coupled to at least one of the stationary contacts to release a magnetic latch. The release causes a trip rotor of the trip assembly to rotate a rotor assembly. This rotation causes ends of a movable contact of the rotor assembly to electrically disengage the stationary contacts, thereby opening the circuit. The switch also includes a handle for manually opening and closing the electrical circuit in fault and non-fault conditions. Actuation of the handle coupled to the rotor assembly via a spring-loaded rotor causes the movable contact ends to selectively engage or disengage the stationary contacts.
Abstract:
The present invention generally discloses a weatherproof flush adapter plate assembly. In one embodiment, the adapter plate assembly includes a plate. The plate includes a front side, a back side, an outer edge, at least one inner edge, at least one mounting member for receiving a back box and at least one mounting member for receiving a notification appliance. The adapter plate assembly also includes a first gasket coupled to the front side of the plate and a second gasket coupled to the back side of the plate.
