Abstract: Systems and methods for managing patient information on a primary computer system involving the creation of an electronic patient chart; receiving updated information to the patient chart; and automatically accessing a secondary system based on the updated information. The primary and secondary computer systems communicate to better manage inventory, medical prescriptions and other administrative concerns. When the patient chart is edited by a healthcare professional, the primary computer system evaluates the updated information and then sends requests to one or more secondary systems automatically. The updated information may involve the need for a new medicine for the patient, a new appointment for the patient to be set up, and/or a new bill to be generated for the patient, among others. The secondary system or systems provide back-end management for these requests. Such back-end management occurs relatively automatically and substantially in real time.

Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for optimizing identification of a beam in a massive multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) system. The receiver device can select a beam to use for a transmission, and generate channel state information based on a selection of either a single stage beam selection process or a two stage beam selection process. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the receiver can select which beam selection process to use based on the context of the receiver device. The receiver can select which beam selection process to use based on the long term signal to noise ratio, or the correlation metrics associated with the receiver and transmitter, or based on the path loss between the transmitter and receiver, or based on the location of the receiver relative to the transmitter.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, detecting a request for a network service between two network nodes and identifying a network path between the two network nodes, wherein the network path is realized by equipment performing a number of network functions. A first network function of the number of network functions is associated with a first number of redundant virtualized network resources performing at least a similar network function as the first network function. Usage metrics are determined corresponding to the first number of redundant virtualized network resources and a first virtualized network resource of the first number of redundant virtualized network resources is assigned to the network path based on the usage metrics to obtain a first assigned virtualized network resource. The network service is provided between the two network nodes using the first assigned virtualized network resource. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: In accordance with one or more embodiments, a guided wave launcher includes an array of antennas configured to generate near field signals. A controller is configured to: select, in response to a first control signal, at least one of a plurality of guided wave modes; and adjust beam steering parameters of the array of antennas according to the selected one(s) of the plurality of guided wave modes. The near field signals combine to induce a guided electromagnetic wave having the selected one(s) of the plurality of guided wave modes, wherein the first guided electromagnetic wave is guided by the transmission medium and propagates along the transmission medium without requiring an electrical return path.

Abstract: A bandwidth efficient way to improve reliability without introducing additional latency is provided for Ultra-Reliable and Low Latency Communications (URLLC) service in 5G NR. In particular, using rateless fountain codes in conjunction with packet duplication for split bearers at the Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) layer increases the reliability of transmission without the need for retransmissions, and with a lower bandwidth requirement compared to traditional packet duplication.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining an indication of user equipment demand associated with a plurality of mobile communication devices that are wirelessly communicating with a first access point that uses a first radio access technology and a second access point that uses a second radio access technology, the plurality of mobile communication devices comprising at least a plurality of dual connectivity mobile communication devices, the first radio access technology being a different radio access technology than the second radio access technology, and the first access point sharing a total amount of radio frequency spectrum with the second access point; determining, based at least in part upon the indication of the user equipment demand, a first split between the first access point and the second access point of the total amount of the radio frequency spectrum; and determining, based at least in part upon the first split of the total amount of the radio frequency spectrum between the first access point and the second access point, a second split between the first access point and the second access point of an internet protocol (IP) traffic flow. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: A method executed by a processing system of an edge router deployed in a content distribution network includes receiving a request from an endpoint device for a first file, determining that a portion of the first file is not stored in a cache of the edge router, determining that the cache is at a capacity threshold, selecting a second file to evict from the cache, wherein the second file is one of a plurality of files stored in the cache, wherein each file of the plurality of files is scheduled to be evicted from the cache when a threshold period of time has passed since a last request for the each file was received by the edge router, and wherein the threshold period of time associated with the second file is scheduled to expire soonest among all of the plurality of files, and evicting the second file from the cache.

Abstract: Communications services are provided to a device. For instance, where a communications resource is being used by a device via a first communications service provider (CSP) component associated with a first CSP, based on a probabilistic analysis of loading parameters received from a device at the first CSP component. A likelihood that the device will move can be predicted, comprising determining the likelihood is not less than a threshold likelihood. If likely to move, and based on the loading parameters, a loading profile associated with a user of the device is updated resulting in updated likelihoods of usages of the communication resource by the device via respective other CSP components other than the first CSP component. Further, based on the updated likelihoods of usages of the communication resource, at least part of the communications resource can be allocated to the respective other CSP components to facilitate communications with the device.
