摘要: Disclosed are a system for damping vibrations of a gas turbine exhaust and a method to damp vibrations of a gas turbine exhaust. The system includes a turbine exhaust cylinder connected to a turbine exhaust manifold establishing a fluid flow path, the fluid flow path including an inner and an outer flow path. A damping blanket damps the vibrations and is coupled to a surface of the inner flow path via a constraining layer clamped by a plurality of studs.

摘要: For a gas turbine engine (10), a method and apparatus for determining temperature of combustion gas in a flow path (17) of the engine. In one embodiment a waveguide (30) includes a cavity (36) with a first waveguide end (32) including a barrier layer (58) which may be a membrane. With the first end positioned to inject an acoustic signal into the flow path, the barrier layer (58) isolates the cavity from combustion gas. Acoustic instrumentation positioned along the surface (38i) of a wall (38) of the waveguide provides generation and propagation of acoustic signals into the flow path for detection and measurement after reflection back into the cavity. The wall may include sections of two different materials, one material having a higher melting temperature than the other, or one material having greater electrically isolating properties than the other section.

摘要: A camera scope inspection system with a flexible, tether mounted camera head that is maneuverable in confined internal cavities of power generation machinery. A camera head position sensing system inferentially determines the three dimension (3D) position of the camera head within the inspected machinery. Camera head position data are correlated with camera image data by a controller. In this manner correlated internal inspection image data and corresponding position data are available for future analysis and image tracking.

摘要: An attachment system for attaching at least one exhaust diffuser downstream from a turbine assembly in a gas turbine engine is disclosed. The attachment system may include at least one attachment flange extending from a downstream edge and attached to a spring plate diffuser support structure and at least one attachment flange extending from side edges of the exhaust diffuser to couple sections of the exhaust diffuser together. The diffuser may also include a thermal barrier/cooling system for controlling a temperature of an outer case of the gas turbine engine. The thermal barrier/cooling system may form a flow path for an ambient air flow cooling.

摘要: A system and a method for image acquisition suitable for use in a turbine engine are disclosed. Light received from a field of view in an object plane is projected onto an image plane through an optical modulation device and is transferred through an image conduit to a sensor array. The sensor array generates a set of sampled image signals in a sensing basis based on light received from the image conduit. Finally, the sampled image signals are transformed from the sensing basis to a representation basis and a set of estimated image signals are generated therefrom. The estimated image signals are used for reconstructing an image and/or a motion-video of a region of interest within a turbine engine.

摘要: A converging-diverging nozzle that has particular application for providing a cooling air flow to ring segments in a gas turbine engine. The engine includes a turbine section that receives a hot working gas. The turbine section includes at least one row of vanes, at least one row of blades and a plurality of ring segments forming at least one ring. The ring segments and the vanes are mounted to a vane carrier, where the vane carrier includes a cooling flow channel for each of the ring segments that receives an air flow to cool the ring segments. A plug is provided in each channel and has an internal bore shaped to define the converging-diverging nozzle through which the air flows so as to create a supersonic flow that reduces the temperature of the air and thus provides more cooling for the same amount of air flow.

摘要: A multi-component braze filler alloy comprising 60-70% by weight CM247 superalloy and BRB braze alloy is diffusion brazed to a CM247 alloy base substrate, such as a gas turbine blade or vane. The substrate/braze interface may be subsequently weld-repaired without de-melting and migrating the braze alloy from the interface. The weld zone and surrounding area are solidification crack resistant. After the alloy composition is brazed to the base substrate the component may be returned to service. Thereafter the component remains repairable by welding or re-brazing, if needed to correct future in-service defects.

摘要: The flame status of a group of gas turbine combustors is acoustically monitored using dynamic pressure sensors within the combustor. Dynamic pressure sensor output signals are received from the sensors and processed to determine flame status. The signals are processed both by performing a correlation analysis within each combustor and by applying a wavelet-based flame detection algorithm to each output signal. A flame is determined to be present based on the correlation analysis and the wavelet-based flame detection algorithm. The wavelet-based flame detection algorithm is chosen based on whether the gas turbine combustors are in an ignition phase or a monitoring phase.

摘要: An integrated single-piece exhaust system (SPEX) with modular construction that facilitates design changes for enhanced aerodynamics, structural integrity or serviceability. The SPEX defines splined or curved exhaust path surfaces, such as a series of cylindrical and frusto-conical sections that mimic curves. The constructed sections may include: (i) a tail cone assembly fabricated from conical sections that taper downstream to a reduced diameter; or (ii) an area-ruled cross section axially aligned with one or more rows of turbine struts; or both features. Modular inner and outer diameter inlet lips enhance transitional flow between the last row blades and the SPEX, as well as enhance structural integrity. Modular strut collars have large radius profiles between the SPEX annular inner diameter and outer diameter flow surfaces, for enhanced airflow and constant thickness walls for uniform heat transfer and thermal expansion. Scalloped mounting flanges enhance structural integrity and longevity.

摘要: An active bypass flow control system for controlling bypass compressed air based upon leakage flow of compressed air flowing past an outer balance seal between a stator and rotor of a first stage of a gas turbine in a gas turbine engine is disclosed. The active bypass flow control system is an adjustable system in which one or more metering devices may be used to control the flow of bypass compressed air as the flow of compressed air past the outer balance seal changes over time as the outer balance seal between the rim cavity and the cooling cavity wears In at least one embodiment, the metering device may include an annular ring having at least one metering orifice extending therethrough, whereby alignment of the metering orifice with the outlet may be adjustable to change a cross-sectional area of an opening of aligned portions of the outlet and the metering orifice.
