Abstract: Various examples are provided for wireless power transfer to implants. In one example, a system includes a radio frequency (RF) power source and a transmitter (TX) array comprising an excitation coil and resonant coils distributed about the excitation coil. The TX array can transfer power from the RF power source to a biomedical implant inserted below a skin surface of a subject when the TX array is positioned on the skin surface adjacent to the biomedical implant. A receiver (RX) coil of the biomedical implant can inductively couple with the TX array for the power transfer. The resonant coils can allow power transfer when the RX coil is not aligned with the excitation coil.

Abstract: An exemplary integrated nuclear quadrupole resonance-based detection system comprises a front-end device having a hand-held form factor, wherein the front-end device is configured to scan a sample in or near a sample coil using inbuild electronics and acquire a nuclear quadrupole resonance measurement. The system further includes a swappable sample coil that is attached to an opening at a face of the front-end device and is tuned to a resonant frequency of the sample; and a swappable impedance matching network that is attached to the opening at the face of the front-end device and is configured to tune the resonant frequency of the sample coil. The inbuild electronics comprises a wireless transfer module that is configured to communicate the acquired nuclear quadrupole resonance measurement with a back-end device of the integrated nuclear quadrupole resonance-based detection system. Other systems and methods are also provided.

Abstract: Described are chromogenic sensors, methods of use, and kits including sensors. The sensors can have a polymer structure with a waveform cross-section in a programmed state. Upon exposure to a first liquid, the polymer structure in the programmed state changes to polymer structure in an activated state. Methods for measuring the presence of a liquid using the sensor are described, as are kits including the sensors.

Abstract: A flexible catheter is inserted into the esophagus to cool or warm the esophagus, particularly during certain procedures which can tend to change the temperature in the area of the esophagus. The catheter is inserted through the mouth and throat to a position, for example, proximate the heart, but within the esophagus. One or more balloons are inflated to block areas of the esophagus, while a gel is injected into the esophagus where it is immobilized by the one or more balloons. A coolant is pumped through a coolant tube affixed to the catheter, where it exchanges heat with the conductive gel.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides for oxygen generating and free radical scavenging biomaterials, an article including the oxygen generating and free radical scavenging biomaterial, wound healing dressings or structures (e.g., bandage) that have the characteristic of generating oxygen and having redox modulating capabilities. In particular, the wound healing dressing can have the characteristics of being anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and pro-healing for extended periods of time (e.g., at least 10 days, at least 30 days).

Abstract: Provided are methods of synthesizing glycolipids. The methods combine chemical and enzymatic transformations to rapidly provide diverse natural and functionalized glycolipids in a high convergent matter. Stepwise enzymatic elongation of a carbohydrate chain of a common glycolipid precursor, compound (1), provides glycan intermediates of Formula (II), using sugar-nucleotides as glycosyl donors and glycosyltransferases as enzymes. Also provided are glycan intermediates of Formula (II) and alkene intermediates of Formula (IV) and methods of preparing same.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is the use of DNA aptamer assemblies of varying DNA length, structure, and sequence to both bind to collagen and other proteins, to then act as a biocompatible, degradable, reversible, or permanent 3D crosslinkers between proteins, and to service as a biologically functional material when using the appropriate aptamer sequence. Therefore, disclosed herein are compositions comprising collagen fibers crosslinked with DNA aptamers. Also disclosed are devices and implants made from or coated with collagen fibers crosslinked with DNA aptamers. Also disclosed are methods of making collagen fibers. Also disclosed are kits for producing collagen fibers. Also disclosed herein are compositions DNA aptamers in a collagen fiber matrix that stabilizes the DNA aptamer.
