Abstract: The vehicle hydraulic system comprises a pump, an accumulator adapted to energize a closed-centre power brake booster, and a open-centre power steering mechanism, the supply line of the power steering mechanism including a throttle in parallel relationship with a control valve. The valve member of the said control valve is actuated by a stepped piston responsive to the fluid pressures in the accumulator and in the supply line downstream said throttle, both pressures acting against a spring, thereby insuring a minimum level of pressure in the accumulator.

Abstract: A caliper disc brake assembly includes an adjuster mechanism for maintaining the proper clearance between the brake shoes and the disc. The adjuster comprises two interconnecting elements and a member to permit one element to follow the movement of the piston in the brake actuating mechanism. A hollow ring filled with a compressible material such as pressurized gas is effective to retard or momentarily stop the movable element in the adjuster. Abstract: An anti-skid hydraulic braking system is disclosed which comprises a monitoring device responsive to the angular displacements of the wheels of the vehicle for controlling the fluid pressure level applied to a pressure modulator which in turn controls fluid communication between a standard automotive master-cylinder and the brake motors. The monitoring device is supplied with pressurized fluid from the pump of the general hydraulic system of the vehicle. Upon failure or malfunction of the pump, it is necessary to prevent the monitoring device from terminating fluid communication between the master cylinder and the brake motors which would prevent any further brake application. A control means is provided in the pressure modulator which comprises, in a chamber connected to the outlet of the pump, a reciprocable spring loaded piston which maintains the fluid communication between the master-cylinder and the brake motors when the pressure of said pump falls below a predetermined value.

Abstract: Starter gearing of the positive shift type for an internal combustion engine in which the sleeve has short splines slightly shorter than the half of the length of the sleeve at the end of the latter opposite to the one connected to the free wheel. Adjacent the free wheel an inner cavity is provided in the sleeve the walls of which do not contact the splines when the starter drive assembly is in its released condition. Abstract: This invention relates to a disc for a disc brake in which the extraction of the braking pads is effected parallelly to the plane of the disc. Each of the faces of the disc comprises at the periphery thereof a cutout portion provided through all the thickness of the disc or through at least a portion of said thickness, the length of the chord joining the intersection points of said cutout portion with the external edge of the groove made by the pad on the corresponding face being at least equal to the maximum size of said pad measured in a direction perpendicular to the direction of extraction of said pad. The pads are extracted easily after turning the disc to bring the pads to protrude out of the cut portion.

Abstract: The starter drive has a driving unit mounted on and in threaded engagement with a driving shaft which is automatically advanced into driving engagement with a part of the engine as a result of said threaded engagement when it is retarded relatively to rotation of the driving shaft by a braking device. The latter comprises a nonrotatable axially movable friction plate slipped on the driving unit and frictionally engaged by friction washer means driven in rotation by the latter and resiliently urged against said plate, resilient return means opposing the advance of said driving unit.
