    Abstract: A holding device for supporting electric or battery-operated window candles in an upright vertical position for viewing through a window. The holding device is comprised of a horizontally extending U-shaped support base, and a vertically extending clip for attaching to a window sash which connects the support base and candle to the window. The support base accommodates a design that holds the candle base in a stationary position while the opposite end abuts the clip and window sash. The clip is attached to the window sash where said sash meets the window sill and extends upwardly. The support base and candle are connected to the window by attaching the back wall of the base to the clip that abuts the window sash. The profile and design does not impede access to normal window functions leaving space between the candle and window handle for grasping.

    Abstract: A method of detecting a region having predetermined colour characteristics in an image comprises transforming colour values of pixels in the image from a first colour space to a second colour space, using the colour values in the second colour space to determine probability values expressing a match between pixels and the predetermined colour characteristics, where the probability values range over a multiplicity of values, using said probability values to identify pixels at least approximating to said predetermined colour characteristics, grouping pixels which at least approximate to said predetermined colour characteristics, and extracting information about each group, wherein pixels are weighted according to the respective multiplicity of probability values, and the weightings are used when grouping the pixels and/or when extracting information about a group.

    Abstract: A splitter valve for splitting an inlet stream into a plurality of outlet streams. The valve comprising an inlet (31) and a plurality of outlets, one for each outlet stream. An outer sleeve (20) has a plurality of first outlet orifices (32, 33), one for each stream. An inner element (30) is moveably retained within the outer sleeve and has an inlet and a plurality of second outlet orifices (32, 33), one for each stream. The relative proportion of the inlet stream fed to each outlet is determined by the relative position of the inner element and outer sleeve. The first and second outlet orifices are shaped such that the flow through each outlet varies substantially linearly with the relative position of the inner element and outer sleeve.

    Abstract: A drive assembly, particularly for driving arms around a compartment in a waste material digester, comprises a rotatable hub having an inner drive plate and a ratchet plate secured thereto for rotation therewith. Positionally opposed, parallel piston and cylinder drive means recipocatably drive an outer drive plate, drive arms pivotally carried on the outer drive plate engaging with drive pins on the inner drive plate to drive the hub in one direction. Movement of the hub in the opposite direction is prevented by latches engaging with respective shoulders of the ratchet plate when the outer drive plate moves in said opposite direction.
