Abstract:
A method for collecting information about the operating condition of a computer system. The method comprises the steps of running a first trace program that collects information about the operating condition of the computer and, in response to the detection of an error in the operating condition of the data storage system by the first program, determining whether a first flag is on or off. The first flag indicates whether or not a second trace program should be run. If the first flag is on, the second program is run. The second trace program is designed to collect different information about the operating condition of the computer system than the first trace program collects.
Abstract:
A gas charged monotube strut carries the accumulator outside the damper's cylinder tube and within the strut mount. A substantially direct flow path is provided between the damper and the accumulator through the damper's piston rod. Air to oil separation is maintained by a gas cup and a low profile of packaging is provided.
Abstract:
A suspension damper includes an integral one-piece reservoir tube arrangement which provides a self-centering feature for the internal components of the damper, supports the loading on those internal components for proper functioning of the twin-tube type damper and applies for a preload force through the internal components.
Abstract:
Cigarettes are formed from tobacco filler which is at a temperature in excess of approximately 35.degree. Celsius and having an elevated moisture content. For example, particles of tobacco filler having an elevated moisture content of approximately 13.5% to approximately 17% are heated by being exposed to a source of heat having a temperature of between approximately 35.degree. and approximately 60.degree. Celsius before being formed into tobacco rods. Preferably a temperature range of between approximately 43.degree. and approximately 52.degree. Celsius is employed. The heating source can be selected from infrared radiation sources, hot water jackets, heating coils, microwave radiation sources or air heated by any one or more of the foregoing. The heating process can take place during the acceleration of the tobacco filler particles from the distributor up to the permeable rod conveyor belt or from the tobacco feeding system supplying the distributor.
Abstract:
An EPR imager and spectrometer includes pulse generating system for generating broadband pulses having an RF carrier frequency that is not highly absorbed by biological samples. The pulse generating system includes up and down chirp convertors for frequency modulating a carrier frequency pulse and compressing the frequency modulated pulse to form a broadband excitation pulse of high energy. Such a machine could form the basis of a clinical imaging device capable of high sensitivity to free radical species in human patients.
Abstract:
A glassed steel wiped film evaporator is provided with an improved feed distributor comprising a one piece circular non-metallic distribution chamber, attached to and rotating with the evaporator wiper assembly, and corrosion resistant feed conduits extending outwardly from said distribution chamber and terminating near the wall of the vessel. This distributor provides the efficiencies of distribution of previous flat plate alloy distributors; and at the same time it is of a sound construction that can be built at reasonable cost from commercially available fluorocarbon and other corrosion resistant materials.
Abstract:
A spooler arranged for leading wire to a rotating spool through a wire tension controller and winding it onto the spool while distributing it in alternating directions along the spool between flanges thereof has means for varying the length of the distribution in either direction, arranged to be so controlled by means responsive to changes in the length of the wire in the wire tension controller in a period adjacent the moment of change to the other distribution direction as at least to reduce wound wire profile deficits or excesses adjacent the spool flanges.
