Abstract: In an aspect, a pressure sensor for determining pressure in an environment comprises: a source for emitting a coherent reference light characterized by a reference light frequency; a first lock-in mechanism configured to send an electrical signal to the source based on a reference resonance frequency; a reference cavity; wherein the reference cavity is characterized by the reference resonance frequency; a modulator configured a reference light to generate at least a first sideband frequency such that an output of said modulator is a measurement light characterized by at least the first sideband frequency; a frequency synthesizer configured to drive the modulator; a second lock-in mechanism configured to send an electrical signal to the frequency synthesizer based on a measurement resonance frequency; and a measurement cavity configured to receive at least a portion of the measurement light; wherein the measurement cavity is characterized by the measurement resonance frequency; and wherein the pressure of the environment is determined based on the reference resonant frequency and the measurement resonance frequency.

Abstract: Laser ablation and laser processing fume and contaminant capture systems are disclosed herein. An example system includes a housing forming a partial enclosure that is configured to be placed against a target surface, a transparent window being integrated into a top surface of the housing, the transparent window being configured to allow for the transmission of a laser scan pattern to the target surface, and an outlet port for establishing a negative pressure inside the housing. Air is drawn into the housing through a first inlet port, the air carries contaminants created during ablation of the target surface by the laser scan pattern out of the outlet port.

Abstract: A microwave-rectifying circuit for rectifying AC power is equipped with: an input line into which AC power is inputted; multiple branch lines which branch off from the branching point on the output side of the input line into n lines; rectifiers which rectify the AC power flowing through the branch lines and are positioned in each of the multiple branch lines; and phase shift units which are provided upstream from the rectifier in at least n−1 branch lines among the multiple branch lines, and shift the phase of the AC power in a manner such that relative to the AC power which flows through one branch line and arrives at the corresponding rectifier, the AC power which flows through each of the other n−1 branch lines and arrives at the corresponding rectifier exhibits a phase difference of k×180/n°.

Abstract: System and method for generating patterns P of aiming and treatment light on target eye tissue (e.g. the retina) of a patient's eye. The system includes light sources for treatment and aiming light, a scanner for generating patterns of spots of the generated light, a controller, and a graphic user interface that allows the user to select one of several possible spot patterns, adjust the spot density and/or spot size, and apply patterns with fixed or varied density. The patterns can be formed of interlaced sub-patterns and/or scanned without adjacent spots being consecutively formed to reduce localized heating. Partially or fully enclosed exclusion zones within the patterns protect sensitive target tissue from exposure to the light.

Abstract: A system and method for treating ophthalmic target tissue, including a light source for generating a beam of light, a beam delivery system that includes a scanner for generating patterns, and a controller for controlling the light source and delivery system to create a dosimetry pattern of the light beam on the ophthalmic target tissue. One or more dosage parameters of the light beam vary within the dosimetry pattern, to create varying exposures on the target tissue. A visualization device observes lesions formed on the ophthalmic target tissue by the dosimetry pattern. The controller selects dosage parameters for the treatment beam based upon the lesions resulting from the dosimetry pattern, either automatically or in response to user input, so that a desired clinical effect is achieved by selecting the character of the lesions as determined by the dosimetry pattern lesions.

The optical carriage assembly is further configured to focus the laser beam within a material processing field to obtain an adjustable power density within a material processing plane and achieve an optimal selected condition for the material to be processed.
