Abstract:
A wind turbine blade for a vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) having a curved camber and a method of manufacturing same is disclosed. The method of manufacturing a turbine blade comprises determining the profile of an airfoil of the blade and forming the blade having the airfoil with the translated profile. The step of determining the profile of an airfoil of the blade comprises selecting a symmetrical airfoil having a straight mean camber line and a desired chord length; selecting a circular segment having the same radius as a path traveled by the blade around a hub of the VAWT and locating the circular segment to contact the mean camber line at at least one point; translating the mean camber line of the symmetrical airfoil such that it overlaps with the circular segment; and determining the profile of the airfoil blade by translating the profile of the symmetrical airfoil to correspond with the translated mean camber line of the symmetrical airfoil.

Abstract:
Compounds of the formula and N-oxides, prodrugs, acid bioisosteres, pharmaceutically acceptable salts or solvates of such compounds, or N-oxides, prodrugs, or acid bioisosteres of such salts or solvates, to compositions comprising such compounds, and methods of treatment comprising administering, to a patient in need thereof, such compounds and compositions.
Abstract:
A chaotic communication system employs transmitting and receiving chaotic oscillating circuits. One improvement to first-generation systems is the ability to modulate a nonreactive element in the transmitting circuit, thus increasing modulation bandwidth. Other features include insertion of a gain control amplifier in a chaotic receiver; signal filtering in chaotic transmitters and receivers; use of chaotic modulation techniques for cellular telephony applications; dual-transmitter and receiver systems; a dual receiver synchronization detector; interfaces to communication systems; analog chaotic signal modulation; use of multiple chaotic transmitters and receivers; digital algorithm improvement using a cube-law nonlinear component; a Gb-only receiver; a Gb-only transmitter; and positive slope transmitter and receiver systems.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for disseminating weather products, based on raw weather data provided by various weather condition sensors, to a mobile vehicle. The weather products are formed as web pages and transmitted to the mobile vehicle during the vertical blanking interval of a broadcast television signal. The weather products are received and displayed within the vehicle under control of a web browser.
Abstract:
A bed system for a pickup truck includes a first member adapted for securement to a first support component associated with a truck bed. The first member has a first surface for contacting cargo and a first edge portion extending at least partially along the periphery of the first member. A second member is adapted for securement to a second support component associated with a truck bed. The second member has a second surface for contacting cargo and has a second edge portion extending at least partially along the periphery of the second member. At least a portion of the second edge portion is oriented in at least a partially overlapping spaced relationship to at least a portion of the first edge portion at an interface. A cushioning element is located between the overlapping first and second edge portions at the interface. The cushioning element is resiliently compressible and permits relative movement between the first and second edge portions at the interface.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to physiologically active compounds of general formula (I):— and compositions containing such compounds; and their prodrugs, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts and solvates of such compounds and their prodrugs, as well as to novel compounds within the scope of formula (I). Such compounds and compositions have valuable pharmaceutical properties, in particular the ability to inhibit kinases.
Abstract:
A packaging arrangement provides a top packaging panel and a bottom packaging panel which receives a tub portion and a first and a second wall portion of a tub and surround. The packaging arrangement provides a compact transportable unit which readily fits within a rather compact package. The packaging panels are preferably manufacture of Styrofoam or the like to absorb shock and protect the tub portion and wall portions. A tub slot is substantially U-shaped to receive a tub end. That is, tub slot receives the tub portion in a substantially vertical orientation in which the tub portion stands on end and is restrained between the panels. The first wall portion slot and the second wall portion slot are substantially L-shaped and are nested to form a larger U-shape within which the tub slot is arranged. That is, the tub slot forms an inverted U relative the orientation of the larger U-shape formed by the first and second wall portion slot. When the tub portion is nested within the wall portions between the panels a rigid yet compact packaging arrangement is provided.
Abstract:
A system for generating a signal for testing a relay is provided. The system includes a plurality of argument vector arrays, each defines a digital signal for testing the relay. Each of the argument vector arrays includes a plurality of argument vectors and each argument vector includes a plurality of arguments. The system includes a plurality of waveform generators to generate a plurality of signal components. Each waveform generator generates the signal component based on the argument vectors contained by a selected one of the plurality of argument vector arrays. The system also includes a merge component to combine the signal components to produce the digital signal for testing the relay.
Abstract:
Fiber-reinforced composites prepared from a depolymerizable and repolymerizable polymer have the processing advantages of a thermoset without being brittle. Impregnation of polymer into the fiber bundle can be achieved with ease, while still producing a composite with excellent physical properties and high damage tolerance.
