The radio network controller includes an interface configured to receive a DNS query from a mobile terminal and a domain name system, DNS, interceptor module. The DNS interceptor module is configured to intercept the DNS query from the mobile terminal, detect the indication of the content originator server or the content delivery provider, check the indication against a list of domain names handled by the radio network controller, and generate a DNS reply in response to the DNS query, the DNS reply including an IP address of a content server associated with the radio network controller and not including an IP address of the content delivery provider. The interface is configured to send the DNS reply to the mobile terminal.

摘要: The disclosure relates to a method and network node (10) for controlling a plurality of flows of application data in a radio network. The method comprises a step of detecting (11) the plurality of flows and a cost measure associated with each flow. The cost measure is an indication of an amount of radio resources required for supplying an amount of application data to an end-user of the flow. The method also comprises monitoring (12) key performance indicators associated with the plurality of flows. A key performance indicator is indicative of a supply of application data needed to maintain a satisfactory quality of experience for an application session associated with the flow. The method further comprises making (13) scheduling decisions to control radio scheduling of the plurality of flows. By basing the scheduling decisions on the cost measures and key performance indicators associated with the plurality of flows, quality of experience of the application sessions associated with the plurality of flows may be optimized.

摘要: A method for optimising the distribution of data objects between caches in a cache domain of a resource limited network. User requests for data objects are received at caches in the cache domain. A notification is sent from each cache at which a request received to a cache manager. The notification reports the user request and identifies the requested data object. At the cache manager, object information including the request frequency of each requested data object and the locations of the caches at which the requests were received are collated and stored, and objects for distribution within the cache domain are identified on the basis of the object information. Instructions are sent from the cache manager to the caches to distribute data objects stored in those caches between themselves. The data objects are distributed between the caches using transmission capacity of the network that would otherwise be unused.

摘要: The invention relates to a method and entity that allow for saving of uplink bandwidth in connection with peer-to-peer sharing in a wireless communication system. A caching entity, called a reverse cache, intercepts a point-to-point connection between a mobile network user plane gateway and a wireless user equipment running a peer-to-peer application. The reverse cache caches content loaded to the peer-to-peer application and stores information indicative of the wireless user equipment to which the cached content is loaded. A request on the point-to-point connection for delivery of a first content from the wireless user equipment is intercepted by the reverse cache. When the requested first content is cached in the reverse cache along with information indicating that the requested first content has been loaded to the wireless user equipment, the reverse cache responds by delivering the requested first content, without involving the wireless user equipment.

摘要: A method of delivering packets from a radio access network to a user terminal. The method comprises establishing a radio access bearer for transporting data to the user terminal from a radio layer control entity responsible for constructing downlink radio frames. Within the radio access network, an IP traffic flow destined for said user terminal is observed and a delivery priority determined for the IP traffic flow taking into account a user application to which the traffic relates. The delivery priority is dynamic ally adjusted in dependence upon the desired arrival time or delivery rate of packets within the IP traffic flow at the user terminal. With respect to other downlink user traffic to be sent over the radio interface, packets of the IP traffic flow are scheduled for transmission to the user terminal over the established radio access bearer, and or the scheduling weight of radio frames of the established radio access bearer adjusted, in accordance with the current delivery priority. The method further comprises, upstream of said radio layer control entity, carrying out a pre-scheduling of packets of said IP traffic flow with respect to other IP traffic flows.

摘要: A method and apparatus for sending user plane traffic via a node located between a base station and a Serving Gateway in a mobile telecommunications network. The base station receives a message containing tunneling protocol information identifying the Serving Gateway. It sends a second message towards the node, the second message including tunneling protocol information identifying the base station and the Serving Gateway. The base station receives a third message from the node, the third message including tunneling protocol information for the base station to use towards the node, and tunneling protocol information for the Serving Gateway to use towards the node. A fourth message is sent, which includes tunneling protocol information for the Serving Gateway to use towards the node. User plane traffic can then be sent between the base station and the Serving Gateway via the node.

摘要: A method of providing for the transfer of an IP flow when a client is handed over from a first to a second radio layer node of a cellular communications network. The method comprises establishing said IP flow between a client and an application of a local service network within or connected to said first radio layer node, and sending said IP flow over a radio access bearer extending between the client and the first radio layer node, and maintaining within a mobility database a mapping between an identifier of the client, an IP address of said application, and an IP address of said local service network. Prior to or upon handover of the client from said first radio layer node to the second radio layer node, a request including the client identifier is sent from said second to said first radio layer node or to another node if the central mobility database is maintained in that other node. The client identifier contained in said request is used at said first radio layer node or said other node to identify said mapping in the mobility database, and the application and local service network IP addresses are sent from said first radio layer node or said other node, to said second radio layer node. The application and local service network IP addresses are received at said second radio layer node, and the received local service network IP address are used at said second radio layer node to establish a tunnel between the second radio layer node and said local service network. Said IP flow is switched from said radio access bearer to said tunnel for delivery to the client via said second radio layer node.
