Abstract: Techniques to configure a user equipment (UE) for a multi-connectivity handover with a source base station (SBS) and a target base station (TBS) include encoding a measurement report for transmission to the SBS. The measurement report is triggered based on a measurement event configured by the SBS. Radio resource control (RRC) signaling from the SBS is decoded, the RRC signaling including a handover command in response to the measurement report. The handover command includes an indication for multi-connectivity support by the SBS and the TBS during the handover. A first protocol stack associated with the SBS and a second protocol stack associated with the TBS are configured at the UE. A packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) protocol data unit (PDU) received at the UE during the handover is processed using the first protocol stack or the second protocol stack.

Abstract: Techniques to configure a UE for a multi-connectivity handover with a source base station (SBS) and a target base station (TBS) include encoding UE capability information for transmission to the SBS, the UE capability information indicating the UE supports multi-connectivity handover. A measurement report is encoded for transmission to the SBS, the measurement report triggered based on a measurement event configured by the SBS. RRC signaling is received from the SBS and includes a handover command for a multi-connectivity handover from the SBS to the TBS. The handover command is in response to the measurement report and the UE capability information. First UL data and second UL data are encoded for transmission during the multi-connectivity handover. The first UL data is encoded for transmission to the SBS and the second UL data is encoded for transmission to the TBS during the multi-connectivity handover.

Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, a user equipment (UE) may enter into an E-UTRAN Routing Area Paging Channel state, and is configured with an E-UTRAN Routing Area and an Anchor identifier to identify an anchor evolved Node B (eNB) for the UE. The UE selects to a new cell without performing a handover procedure, and performs a cell update procedure. The UE also may enter into a Cell Update Connected state, and is configured with an Anchor identifier. The UE selects to a new cell, performs a cell update procedure, performs a buffer request procedure, and performs a cell update procedure to download buffered data and to perform data transmission with the new cell.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are provided to: perform packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) deciphering of the packets to store deciphered packets in a common buffer; perform PDCP reordering of the deciphered packets in the common buffer to generated a stream or reordered packets; perform robust header compression (ROHC) decompression on the stream of reordered packets; and determine, based on a packet indication, to reset the ROHC decompression, wherein the packet indication comprises a single bit in a PDCP header set to indicate a start of ROHC reset based on a path switch during a handover from a source cell to a target cell.

Abstract: Logic may receive an initial communication from a user device, the initial communication comprising capabilities. Logic may determine, based on an indication of a capability to support new radio frequency layers from the capabilities for the user device, a measurement gap configuration for the new radio frequency layers and a measurement gap configuration for a channel state information reference signal. Logic may send a frame with a preamble to a physical layer comprising the measurement gap configuration. Logic may send an initial communication to a physical layer, wherein the initial communication comprises capabilities for a user device. Logic may decode downlink data with a measurement gap configuration. And logic may parse the measurement gap configuration to determine at least one measurement gap identification and at least one offset for the new radio frequency layers and a channel state information reference signal.

Abstract: Devices, methods, user equipment (UE), base stations, storage media, and other embodiments are provided for a dynamic random access channel (RACH). In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a memory configured to store a configuration communication from a base station, the configuration communication comprising a dynamic dedicated random access channel (RACH) configuration (RACH-ConfigDedicated) information element, the RACH-ConfigDedicated information element comprising a plurality of dedicated random access parameters. Processing circuitry coupled to the memory is then configured to decode the configuration communication from the base station to identify the plurality of dedicated random access parameters and set up a RACH procedure for connection to the base station using the plurality of dedicated random access parameters. In various embodiments, different communications may be used for the dedicated random access parameters which are used in the RACH procedure.

Abstract: 5G methods and architectures to determine active SCells and their bandwidth parts (BWP) used in carrier aggregation (CA) are disclosed in which activating a BWP for an active SCell is performed initially according to a default value provided in initial radio resource control (RRC) messaging. After initialization, SCells and the SCell BWPs used by the user equipment (UE) are activated by RRC messaging, downlink control information (DCI) or dedicated medium access control (MAC) control elements (MAC CEs) with the initial BWP used for an activated SCell being a default value provided during initialization.
