    Abstract: A rotating electrical machine includes an armature that includes a multiphase armature winding. The multiphase armature winding includes winding segments. Each of the winding segments is comprised of a multiply-wound conductive wire member. The winding segments are arranged at predetermined intervals in a circumferential direction of the rotating electrical machine. Each of the winding segments has an end. The ends of the winding segments are collected at a predetermined connection point. The collected ends of the winding segments are connected to a neutral point or an input/output terminal of a power converter.

    Abstract: A rotating electrical machine armature winding includes conductor portions arranged circumferentially away from each other and face a magnet unit. The conductor portions have no inter-conductor members circumferentially disposed therebetween. Each conductor portion includes wire segments of the conductor wire member arranged in circumferentially and radially arranged rows. The conductor portions include a first conductor portion and a second conductor portion which are arranged adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction as a pair and belong to the same phase. The first conductor portion includes the wire segments of the conductor wire member which are arranged asymmetrically with those of the second conductor portion in the circumferential direction. The magnet unit includes magnet which have major magnetic pole faces. Each of the major magnetic pole faces is shaped to have a major magnetic pole angle is selected to be less than or equal to an inter-conductor angle.

    Abstract: A rotating electric machine includes a field system having a magnet section, and an armature having a multi-phase armature coil. The magnet section has easy axes of magnetization oriented to be nearer perpendicular to a q-axis at locations closer to the q-axis than at locations closer to a d-axis, or to be perpendicular to the q-axis at locations on the q-axis. Each phase of the armature coil has electrical conductor sections formed by winding an electrical conductor wire multiply and arranged at positions facing the magnet section and at a predetermined interval in a circumferential direction. The electrical conductor wire includes a plurality of element wires in a radially laminated state and an insulating coat covering the laminated element wires. Each of the element wires has a flat cross section that is longer in the circumferential direction than in a radial direction.

    Abstract: In a rotating electrical machine, each of permanent magnets of a magnet unit has opposing first and second outer surfaces. The first outer surface is located to be closer to an armature than the second outer surface. The first outer surface serves as a magnetic flux-acting surface. The magnet unit concentrates the magnetic fluxes created by each of the permanent magnets through a d-axis part of the magnetic flux-acting surface of a corresponding one of the permanent magnets. The d-axis part of the magnetic flux-acting surface of each of the permanent magnets is located on or adjacent to a corresponding d-axis that represents a center of the corresponding one of the magnetic poles.

    Abstract: In a rotating electric machine, a cylindrical portion is provided on a radially inner side of a stator core. An opposing plate portion extends toward a radially outer side from the cylindrical portion. In a rotor, a magnet portion is fixed on an inner circumferential surface, a circular cylindrical portion is provided on the radially outer side of a stator winding, and a connecting portion extends toward the radially inner side. At least respective portions that oppose the magnet portion in the axial direction of the stator core, the circular cylindrical portion, and the connecting portion contain a magnetic material. A shield portion is provided in a portion that opposes the magnet portion in the axial direction of the opposing plate portion or on an end on the opposing plate portion side in the axial direction of the magnet portion. The shield portion contains a magnetic material.

    Abstract: A rotating electrical machine includes a magnetic field generator, and an armature that includes a multi-phase armature winding.     Abstract: An armature includes an armature coil including a plurality of coil modules and a base member including a cylindrical back core. Each of the coil modules includes a corresponding partial winding of the armature coil and a back-yoke-side insulating wall formed on the back yoke side of the corresponding partial winding. The coil modules are arranged, on a radially inner side or a radially outer side of the base member, in alignment with each other in a circumferential direction. The base member has a plurality of first engaging portions formed therein and each of the coil modules has at least one second engaging portion formed in the back-yoke-side insulating wall thereof. The coil modules are fixed to the base member with each of the first engaging portions of the base member engaging with a corresponding one of the second engaging portions of the coil modules in the circumferential direction.

    Abstract: An armature which radially faces a magnetic field-producing unit equipped with a magnet unit having a plurality of magnetic poles includes a housing, an armature core, a multi-phase armature winding, and bus bars. The housing includes a cylinder and a disc-shaped end plate placed in contact with one of axially opposed ends of the cylinder. The armature core is disposed on a portion of the cylinder which radially faces the magnet unit. The armature winding is disposed on a portion of the armature core which radially faces the magnet unit. The bus bars electrically connect phase windings of the armature winding together. The armature also includes a bus bar module which is of a circular or C-shape extending along the circumference of the armature core. The bus bar module is secured to the cylinder, the end plate, or one of axially opposed ends of the armature core.
