    摘要: A method and apparatus for high-density reproduction of information recorded on an optical disk by increasing the optical resolution during reproduction. The apparatus focuses an optical beam reflected from the optical disk using a lens, and receives the focused reflected optical beam using a photodetector having an optical area whose width is smaller than the diameter of an optical spot formed thereon. As a result, jitter caused by interfering light, that is, light reflected from the circumference such as a recording portion adjacent to the optical disk, can be solved. Also, high-density reproduction can be performed by increasing the optical resolution during reproduction. The apparatus can be applied to an optical pickup for high-density recording.

    摘要: An magneto-optical disk drive comprises a driving apparatus for rotating a medium, an electromagnet positioned above or below the medium for producing a magnetic field on a recording surface of the medium, and an optical head by which laser light illuminates the recording surface and the laser light reflected from the recording surface is picked up. Here, the electromagnet comprises a plurality of subdivided electromagnet elements, a magnetic field concentrator by combining the electromagnet elements in a magnetic circuit and concentrating magnetic fields produced from the combined electromagnet elements on a portion of the electromagnet, and a center magnetic pole provided in an opposing position with respect to the optical head, to thereby make the magnetic field concentrated by the magnetic field concentrator pass through the recording surface of the medium. Accordingly, the recording time or data on the medium becomes greatly shortened, thereby enabling high speed data recording.

    摘要: A high-density recording optical head for increasing recording density in an optical head for recording and reproducing information optically. The disclosed optical head is provided with an iris for transmitting or passing the central portion of the reflected light when the light reflected from a medium is transmitted by an ordinary objective lens. Another iris is also provided for transmitting or reflecting the periphery of the reflected light and, in this case, an improved objective lens structure including two inner and outer elements is provided. Therefore, in the disclosed optical head, only light reflected from the actual recording region is detected as a reproduction signal. According to the disclosed optical head, high-density recording in identical media becomes possible.

    摘要: A magnetic recording method is provided where ternary data is recorded on a magnetic recording medium by forming a first area that corresponds to a first value of the data and in which a first magnetization state is continued at least during the minimum write width. A second area that corresponds to a second value of the data in which a second magnetization state is oppositely magnetized as compared with the first magnetization state is continued at least during the minimum write width. A third area that corresponds to a third value of the data in which the magnetic intensity detected by the read head corresponds to a “0.” Accordingly, the ternary data can be recorded using the characteristic that a signal having a width narrower than the detection width of the read head is not detected by the read head.

    摘要: First and second laser beam sources generate first and second laser beams of different wavelengths, respectively. A first collimating lens diverges the first laser beam at a predetermined angle so as to permit a fracture surface aberration of the first laser beam to fall below a predetermined value when the first laser beam generated from the first laser beam source is collected on the signal layer of the optical disk. A light receiving lens collects the laser beam reflected from the signal layer of the optical disk on a photo diode in the form of an optical spot of a predetermined size. A holographic lens has a pattern by which the first laser beam is converted into parallel rays so that the size of a spot of the first laser beam becomes identical with the size of a spot of the second laser beam as projected on the detecting section. The pattern of the holographic lens has a concentric annular concave-convex portion in which a plurality of annular prominences and depressions are arranged, and the depression and the prominence have a width which is gradually decreased from a center toward a most outer circumference of the concentric annular concave-convex portion. Further, an inner surface of each prominence has a step-like shape formed with at least one step. Preferably, the number of the step ranges from three to five. Accordingly, diameters of the optical spots of the two laser beams of different wavelengths are almost identical when the laser beams are transmitted through the holographic lens so that the optical spots are formed on the photo diode. As a result, with one objective lens and photo diode, information of two types of optical disks for laser beams of different wave lengths can be reproduced.

    摘要: A color laser printer producing a color image using a single laser scanning unit includes a lighting unit including first and second laser diodes emitting beams of one polarization, a polarization prism transmitting or reflecting incident beams depending on a direction of polarization, and third and fourth laser diodes disposed in a different direction from the first and second laser diodes with respect to the polarization prism, a rotary polygon mirror that reflects the beam emitted along the same path from the lighting unit, an f-θ lens that focuses the beam reflected by the rotary polygon mirror, first and second polarization beam splitters, each of which transmits or reflects the beam passing through the f-θ lens depending on the direction of the polarization, and first through fourth photoconductive units on which the beams reflected and transmitted through the first and second polarization beam splitters are incident. In the color laser printer, lengths of optical paths between the f-θ lens and each of the first through fourth photoconductive units are equal. The color laser printer is constructed such that a plurality of light sources emitting the beams of one polarization are arranged separately and the beams emitted from the light sources are combined by the polarization prism to enter the f-θ lens, thereby reducing a thickness of the f-θ lens.
