An image forming device includes a photosensitive body, an electrostatic charging device which electrostatically charges the photosensitive body, a light exposure device which image-light-exposes a moving surface of the photosensitive body so that an electrostatic latent image is formed on the photosensitive body, and a developing device which makes visible the electrostatic latent image as a toner image. The light exposure device forms a beam spot on the moving surface of the photosensitive body by selectively irradiating a light beam corresponding to image data in a state where parts of two beam spots neighboring each other in a sub scanning direction overlap each other in the sub scanning direction. A summation of light energies when the two beam spots are formed on the surface of the photosensitive body with a time interval is set to be smaller than a summation of light energies when two beam spots are simultaneously formed on the surface of the photosensitive body.

When the seals are between the bottom of toner hopper and the first toner transporting roller, the first toner transporting roller is longer than the second toner transporting roller and the circumferential portions of the first toner transporting roller which contact the seals do not contact the second toner transporting roller. Alternatively, when the seals are between the bottom of toner hopper and the second toner transporting roller, the second toner transporting roller is longer than the first toner transporting roller and the circumferential portions of the second toner transporting roller which contact the seals do not contact the first toner transporting roller. Additionally, when the seals contact the second toner transporting roller, side seals may be placed against the ends of the first toner transporting roller. In both of these arrangements, the length of the second toner transporting roller is shorter than a length of an effective area of a photoconductive layer on the image bearing member.

A head moves between the first and second recording regions of the disc-shaped recording medium and records and reproduces information signals to and from the disc-shaped recording medium. The rotational driving unit rotates the disc-shaped recording medium at a constant linear velocity by using the output signal outputted from the head. The servo apparatus generates a servo signal according to an error signal generated using the output signal from the head and carries out servo control on the head and the rotational driving unit. The controller determines which of the first or second regions of the disc-shaped recording medium the head is in based on the output signal from the head and then uses this determination result to control the servo apparatus.

A developing device for an image forming apparatus and using a single component type developer, i.e., toner, has a developing roller, a doctor blade, and an elastic intermediae roller. The developing roller and intermediate roller contact each other and rotate in the same directions such that they move in opposite directions at the position where they contact each other.
