摘要： An equalizer for a high density optical disc reproducing apparatus and an equalizing method therefore are provided. The equalizer includes: a non-linear transformer, which transforms an input signal according to predetermined threshold levels; a cosine transform filter, which inverts phases of high frequency spectrum components of an output signal of the non-linear transformer; a high boost filter, which increases amplitudes of high frequency spectrum components of the input signal; and an adder, which adds an output signal of the cosine transform filter with an output signal of the high boost filter. Therefore, the equalizer can increase recording density of the optical disc in the high density optical disc reproducing apparatus and accordingly increase recording amount of information, by reducing inter-signal interference (ISI) and increasing a signal-to-noise ratio in the output signal of the equalizer. Also, the equalizer has a simple configuration.

摘要： A method and an apparatus for correcting an asymmetric waveform level in consideration of an asymmetric error after the decimal point are disclosed. A zero-crossing detector for correcting an asymmetry signal detects a zero-crossing point and a decimal-point asymmetry detector calculates a jitter value required for correcting the asymmetry waveform level. A counted value decider decides a counted value using the zero-crossing point detected by the zero-crossing detector, the jitter value and sign bits of sample signals according to a system clock period. Values after the decimal point are reflected to a counter, and thus the asymmetry can be detected more accurately to improve the performance.

The phase locked loop circuit includes a sampler which samples an input signal according to a sampling clock output from the phase locked loop circuit; a pattern detection signal/phase error generation unit which generates a pattern detection signal indicating the detection of a predetermined pattern, detects a phase error between the sampled input signal and a zero crossing point of the input signal if the sampled input signal output from the sampler has the predetermined pattern, and outputs the detected phase error, and a sampling clock generation unit which generates the sampling clock based on the pattern detection signal and the phase error, wherein the predetermined pattern is a pattern which is uniformly distributed over the entire range where the input signal can be inputted.
