Abstract:
A system for tracking position and identification of a moving element on a conveyor system having a track, the system including: a machine readable medium provided to one of the moving element or the track, wherein the machine readable medium is configured with at least two channels with a predetermined phase difference therebetween; a sensor provided to the other of the moving element or the track, wherein the sensor is configured to read the at least two channels; and a controller configured to receive data from the sensor and determine a position and/or identification of the moving element on the track based on the phase difference.
Abstract:
An encoder encodes data to generate corresponding encoded data. The encoder includes a data processing arrangement for applying one or more encoding processes to the data to generate the encoded data. The data processing arrangement is operable to represent the data at least partially in a set of numerical value symbols, if the data is not already expressed in numerical value symbols. The data processing arrangement is operable to generate intermediate data in which the numerical value symbols are represented by original values and at least one symbol by a modified value with one or more continuum symbols generated by a continuum operator. The one or more continuum symbols modify preceding symbol values to accommodate an extended range of symbols.
Abstract:
A recording and reproducing area and a reproduction-only area are formed by wobbling a groove formed in a spiral fashion to form a track to be tracked on a disk. The recording and reproducing area has address information recorded by wobbling of the groove and information recorded and reproduced by phase change marks on the track formed by the groove where the address information is recorded. The reproduction-only area has prerecorded information recorded by wobbling of the groove.

Abstract:
A biphase mark signal receiver includes a data and clock recovery circuit. The data recovery circuit may include a coarse recovery stage and a fine recovery stage. The coarse recovery stage is configured to detect repeating occurrences of a first preamble (e.g., Y-preamble) within a biphase encoded data stream received by the data recovery circuit. The fine recovery stage is configured to generate a recovered data stream, in response to estimating a plurality of timing decision points (e.g., 3UI, 2UI and 1UI) from the repeating occurrences of the first preamble detected by the coarse recovery stage.
Abstract:
There is provided an optical disc having preformed thereon a spiral wobbled track as a grove and/or land along with data is to be recorded. The track is wobbled for a series of predetermined signal units each composed of an FSK information bit part based on a waveform resulted from FSK modulation of information bit and a singe-frequency part based on a waveform of a single frequency. The FSK modulation uses two different frequencies of which the one is the same as the single frequency and the other is different from the single frequency. These different frequencies are in such a relation that each of them has an even number of wobbles and an odd number of wobbles alternately in a predetermined cycle.
Abstract:
An apparatus and methods to provide a game system utilizing a normal household DVD player. The apparatus typically uses multiple remote controls and a game disc to provide an interactive game such as a quiz game. The game disc manipulates the address locations within the DVD to provide movement throughout the disc and the remote controls similarly at an offset to the address locations to source particular media files on the disc to be displayed on an associated television or similar device. The remote controls are also provided with a mechanism to avoid conflict between near simultaneous signals that include receivers within the remote controls to receive the signals, resolve the first remote control operated and only allow an operational code from that remote control to be received by the DVD player.
Abstract:
A writing strategy parameters indexing method and a recording apparatus therefor. The writing strategy parameters indexing method includes operations of receiving an NRZ sequence; moving the NRZ sequence by as much as a bit with respect to a channel block using a slide-window having a length of N bits; determining whether a bit pattern of the NRZ sequence in the window-slide has a predetermined bit pattern; extracting writing strategy parameters corresponding to the predetermined bit pattern when the bit pattern of the NRZ sequence in the window-slide has the predetermined pattern; and generating recording pulses using the writing strategy parameters.
