Abstract: A computer-implemented method, system and computer program product for improving understandability of text by a user. A final word vector for each word in a sentence of a document is computed, such as by averaging a first word vector and a second word vector for that word. Furthermore, elements of a user portrait are vectorized. A distance is then computed between a vector for each word in the sentence and a vectorized element in the user’s portrait which is summed to form an evaluation result for the element. An evaluation result is also formed for every other element in the user’s portrait by performing such a computation step. A “final evaluation result” is then generated corresponding to the evaluation results for every element in the user’s portrait. The document is then transformed in response to the final evaluation result indicating a lack of understanding of the sentence by the user.

Abstract: An embodiment includes receiving a request to delete a specified document from a primary shard of a sharded database. The embodiment also includes inserting a soft-deletion document to a soft-deletion shard, wherein the soft-deletion document identifies the specified document, which remains in the primary shard. The embodiment also includes receiving a query from a client application, wherein the specified document satisfies the query. The embodiment also includes blocking the specified document from being returned in response to the query while the soft-deletion document associated with the specified document remains in the soft-deletion shard.

Abstract: An approach is provided in which a set of provision information is generated from a set of provisioners that are in process of fulfilling a client's provision request. The approach creates a set of provision events based on the set of provision information and, in response to detecting a failure of the provision request, the approach generates a provision chain from the set of provision events. The provision chain links the set of provision events based on correlation rules and identifies at least one isolation point of the failure. The approach informs the client of the at least one isolation point of the failure identified in the provision chain.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention allow a user to input text on electronic devices with touch-sensitive surfaces without physical or virtual keyboards. In operation, a user may touch a certain position on a border of the touch-sensitive surface. A position corresponding to the detected touch is determined from among a plurality of predefined positions distributed along the border. In response, a character associated with the determined position is determined and input into the device.

Abstract: A transmission mode of an interrogation from an RFID reader is the basis for determining a responsive communication. Transmission modes matching a pre-defined pattern are the basis for returning expected information, such as an identification code. When the received interrogations do not match a transmission mode, information not helpful in identification is returned, such as, for example, a null code, an incorrect code, or an error code. An RFID tag includes a circuit for analyzing frequencies of the received interrogation, the analysis revealing the transmission mode, which may include frequency value or range, duration of transmission, and number of frequencies received during the interrogation.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, in accordance with one embodiment, includes detecting cultural context and accents of speakers portrayed in a video stream and/or an audience of the video stream. Accent tags are selected for the speakers according to the cultural context and accents of the speakers and/or the audience of the video stream. A textual representation of spoken words of the speakers is translated from a source language to a target language. The accent tags are applied to the textual representation of the spoken words in the target language according to the speakers corresponding to the textual representation of the spoken words in the target language. Speech lip movements of the speakers portrayed in the video stream are modified to match the target language and the locale accent tags. A translated video stream having the speakers appearing to speak in the target language with the modified lip movements is output.
