    摘要: A method of generating a run length limited (RLL) code having improved direct current (DC) suppression capability and modulation and demodulation methods of the generated RLL code. According to the method of generating the RLL codes, code words that satisfy a (d, k) run length constraint are generated. By allocating main code groups, in which a code word can be duplicated depending on the characteristics of the generated codeword and code words of each main code group are allocated in consideration of a code word sum value (CSV) parameter, which represents the DC value in a code word, and an inverse characteristic of an INV parameter, which predicts the transition direction of digital sum value (DSV) of the next code word, and allocating decision groups for differentiating the duplicated code words, by using some of the code words, which are already used in main code group, as code words for DSV groups for the DC suppression, the number of code word bits can be reduced and the recording density increases, while improving the DC suppression capability.

    摘要: A method and apparatus is disclosed for controlling the rotation of an optical disk of the type which has pre-grooves therein. The pre-grooves store wobble signals modulated by data. A first rotation control signal is generated by comparing the phases of the wobble signal reproduced from the optical disk and a reference signal. A second rotation control signal is also generated. This signal is an accelerating control signal for a next given period if the pulse width of the wobble signal is greater than a predetermined reference value when comparing the pulse width of the wobble signal and the predetermined reference value every period of the reference signal. The second signal is a moderating control signal for a next given period if the pulse width of the wobble signal is less than the predetermined reference value. The system and method selectively outputs the second rotation control signal if an error is produced at the time of demodulating the data from the reproduced wobble signal and the first rotation control signal if the data is demodulated normally. Accordingly, an unstable state caused by an operational abnormality during the phase control of a spindle servo system using a wobble signal can be stabilized quickly.

    摘要: An error correction method for optical discs, and more particularly, an error correction method appropriate to high density discs is provided. The error correction method adds inner parity and outer parity to an error correction block of size n byte x m x o. The method comprises the steps of obtaining a plurality of inner parity blocks (PI blocks) by segmenting the error correction block in the inner parity (PI) direction into x segments; generating e-byte PI for each of the plurality of PI blocks generated by segmenting, and adding the e-bytes to the PI blocks PIs to the PI direction; and generating f-byte outer parity (PO) in the PO direction of the error correction block, and adding the POs to the PO direction. The error correction method enhances error correction capability while maintaining a redundancy of parity signal on a level similar to conventional DVDs.
