The invention relates to a computerized method of profiling a shear flow, such as a boundary layer. The method includes receiving two successive images of a plurality of particles in the shear flow near the interface being analyzed. The method also includes determining a set of potential particle motion vectors based on the received images and dynamically ranks the likelihood that the potential tracks are correct based on track density. Track density is calculated using a plot matrix and kernel technique. The ranking is used to match particles from the successive images. The method also includes generating a velocity profile of the flow about the interface based on the particles matches and the determined location of the interface. The method is also applicable to moving and deforming interfaces.

The method of fabricating a multilevel EUV optical element includes: (a) providing a substrate; (b) depositing a layer of curable material on a surface of the substrate; (c) creating a relief profile in a layer of cured material from the layer of curable material wherein the relief profile comprises multiple levels of cured material that has a defined contour; and (d) depositing a multilayer reflection film over the relief profile wherein the film has an outer contour that substantially matches that of the relief profile. The curable material can comprise photoresist or a low dielectric constant material.

A binding assembly for attaching a boot to a snow board, designed in a manner to avoid cavities that can accumulate ice and snow and defeat its operation. The system includes first and second boot mounted bales in the form of rigid loops that extend from each side of the boot soles, an adjustable boot insert and a pair of bindings attached to the snow board. Each binding has a base including elongated, slotted holes located on the circumference of a circle through which bolts secure the base to the snow board with a friction washer therebetween, allowing for rotational adjustment of the binding. A hook-shaped structure extends from one side of the base with the hook facing outward. On the opposite side of the base is a camming structure with a downward and outwardly sloping surface ending in a bale-receiving notch. A spring loaded latch is pivotally mounted outboard and above the notch and includes a lever with a generally outwardly protruding handle on one side of the lever pivot axis, and a bale latching portion on the other side of the pivot. By placing the first bale over the hook and then thrusting the second bale downward against the latching portion and into engagement with the camming structure, the first bale is drawn into engagement with the hook as the second bale is guided by the sloping surface into the notch where it is retained by the latch. In order to release the binding, the user simply rotates the latch upward to free the bales.

A method of image compositing that directly manipulates ray tracing samples generated by a ray tracing renderer, rather than manipulating the pixels of a rasterized image. Rasterization may be performed after compositing at any desired resolution or resolutions, for example to adapt to different displays. Ray tracing samples may be tagged with the identity of the object intersected by the ray, facilitating object selection during compositing without the need for object masks. Random or pseudo-random ray patterns typically used by renderers may be supported directly. A large number of compositing operations may be performed directly on the ray tracing samples, including color changes, object repositioning in two dimensions or three dimensions, merging of images or objects from different scenes or rendering passes, and generation of new viewpoints for an image. Preview images may be generated during compositing using a subset of the available samples, trading off image quality for speed.
