    摘要: A method and apparatus by which a reception device of a communication system can sense and compensate for an error of a program clock reference (PCR), and can sense and compensate for bit rate variation of transmission data in a transmitted MPEG-2 TS. The method and apparatus compensates for a PCR jitter, or a change in a data bit rate, which may occur in processing an MPEG-2 TS in a reception device of the MPEG-2 TS transmission system, thereby preventing the deterioration of image quality due to the jitter or loss of an input MPEG-2 TS data. The apparatus includes a PAT sensing unit for sensing a PAT from a received MPEG-2 TS, a PMT sensing unit for sensing a PMT based on information provided from the PAT sensing unit, a PCR PID unit for sensing a PCR PID based on information provided from the PMT sensing unit and a PCR data unit for outputting a PCR data based on information provided from the PMT sensing unit and PID information provided from the PCR PID unit. The apparatus also includes a PCR comparison/compensation unit receiving the PCR data from the PCR data unit, comparing the received PCR data with a pre-stored PCR data, and compensating for the pre-stored PCR data, and a data rate comparison/compensation unit for receiving data rate information from the PCR data unit, comparing the received data rate with a pre-stored data rate, and compensating for the pre-stored data rate.

The apparatus includes an optoelectric converting unit for converting an input optical signal into an electrical signal; an amplifying unit for amplifying the electrical signal outputted from the optoelectric converting unit; a bit rate discriminating unit for exclusively OR'ing the electrical signal with a delay signal that is delayed from the amplified receiving signal by a predetermined time, thereby outputting a recognition signal; a clock/data reproducing unit for receiving the electrical signal, and for reproducing clocks and data based on a reference clock; a bit rate signal generating unit for generating the reference clock in response to a bit rate change signal; a temperature sensing unit for outputting a temperature sensing signal that is indicative of the internal temperature of the optical receiver; and, a control unit for determining the bit rate of the receiving signal based on a value selected from temperature-dependent voltage level variation values that are previously stored, on the basis of the voltage level of the recognition signal outputted from the bit rate discriminating unit and the internal temperature of the optical receiver corresponding to the temperature sensing signal, and for outputting the bit rate change signal based on the determined bit rate.

    摘要: A broadcast/communication convergence system and a method for transmitting and receiving Ethernet data using the same is disclosed. The system is equipped with an optical network unit performing a time division multiplexing operation on the Ethernet data switched by a network switch and a plurality of broadcast data units, transmitting a resultant signal of the operation to a corresponding subscriber set-top box, and providing data from the subscriber set-top box to the network switch. In one aspect of the invention, the optical network unit produces a length of an Ethernet data frame provided from the network switch. An encapsulation operation is carried out by generating data length information and inserting the generated length information into an Ethernet data frame. Encapsulated Ethernet data is transmitted to the subscriber set-top box. The subscriber set-top box carries out a time division demultiplexing operation for a signal transmitted from the optical network unit, and separates the signal into the Ethernet data and broadcast data. When a framing bit is detected from the frame of the Ethernet data based on a result of the separation, the length information is detected from the Ethernet data frame. The Ethernet data frame is counted on the basis of the detected length information and recognizing the Ethernet data. A preamble bit and a start-of-field delimiter (SFD) are inserted into the recognized Ethernet data and the original Ethernet data is recovered.

    摘要: A passive optical network includes a central office and a subscriber-side apparatus connected with the central office through an optical fiber link. The subscriber-side apparatus performs communication with the central office based on wavelength-division-multiplexed optical signals. The central office has a routing section, provided with first to fourth multiplexing ports, for demultiplexing multi-wavelength light inputted from the fourth multiplexing port into a plurality of channels. Each of the demultiplexed channels is amplified and multiplexed for output through the first multiplexing port. Optical signals inputted through the third multiplexing port are demultiplexed and outputted upstream. The routing section also multiplexes channels for downstream optical signals, outputting the multiplexed channels through the second port. A splitting section, provided with first to third splitting ports and arranged on a loop optical waveguide connects the first and fourth multiplexing port with each other. The splitting section causes some of multi-wavelength light inputted into the first splitting port to be outputted through the second splitting port and causes the remainder of multi-wavelength light to be outputted through the third splitting port connected with the fourth multiplexing port. A circulator causes the multi-wavelength light inputted through the second splitting port to be transmitted to the subscriber-side apparatus and causes upstream optical signals received from the subscriber-side apparatus to be outputted to the third multiplexing port.
