摘要： In accordance with the present invention, there are provided a gene encoding the promoter region of a protein p51 which is capable of inducing cell death, and a gene encoding the 5′-untranslated region of p51. These genes are useful in diagnosing and treating diseases including cancer caused by abnormal regulation of cell propagation. Furthermore, in accordance with the present invention, there are provided the antisense DNAs and the antisense RNAs of these genes, nucleic acid probes comprising parts or all of these genes, methods of detecting the above genes of the present invention or analogous genes using the nucleic acid probes, transformants in which the above gene of the present invention has been introduced, and methods of screening drugs using them. These genes are also useful in diagnosing and treating diseases including cancer, etc.

摘要： It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved disc changer adapted to exactly detect whether a magazine storing a plurality of discs has been attached in the disc changer. When a magazine storing a plurality of discs is inserted into the disc changer, a detection arm and a lock arm both serving as moving members are moved by such an insertion. The lock arm, by virtue of the movement of itself, engages into an insertion groove provided on the backside of the inserted magazine and locks the magazine on the disc changer. The detection arm, by virtue of the movement of itself, actuates a lock detection switch. Here, since the detection arm and the lock arm are both urged by an urging spring, it becomes possible to exactly detect the attachment of the magazine by allowing the moving members locking the magazine on the disc changer to actuate the lock detection switch.

摘要： An image forming apparatus having a primary passage extending from a feeding unit which stores sheets up to a discharge tray which receives sheets with images formed thereon through an image forming unit which forms images on the sheet, and a secondary passage for returning each sheet which has been image-formed within the image forming unit to an upstream end of the primary passage from a downstream end thereof to form another image on the already image-formed side of the sheet or on the opposite side thereof. The secondary passage is formed so that in the event of jam or sheet therein, a portion of the secondary passage is exposed to the exterior by means of a guide plate capable of being opened and closed. Jam of sheet in the secondary passage is detected by a sensor and the jammed sheet is reverse fed up to the above guide plate by a drive which is for the conveyance of sheet in the secondary passage, then the guide plate is opened to permit removal of the thus reverse-fed sheet to the exterior of the apparatus.

摘要： A system for converting an analog image signal into a digital image signal is provided. The system comprises an analog-to-digital signal converter for producing a digital signal by subjecting an incoming analog signal to threshold processing with a threshold level. The system also comprises a peak/valley extracting circuit for extracting peak and valley points corresponding to thin lines and narrow gaps between lines, respectively, in the original image scanned. The extracted peak and valley points are utilized in the analog-to-digital conversion processing so as not to lose information as to thin lines and narrow gaps between lines. Especially, in extracting peak and valley points, the concentration or level of a particular picture element is compared with that of the adjacent picture elements at least in two directions.
