    摘要: A perpendicular magnetic recording head includes a main magnetic pole layer; and a return yoke layer laminated on the main magnetic pole layer with a magnetic gap layer formed of a nonmagnetic material disposed on an opposing surface opposite a recording medium. The return yoke layer includes a first throat part opposing the main magnetic pole layer at a side close to the recording medium-opposing surface with a first gap spacing corresponding to a film thickness of the magnetic gap layer; and a second throat part extending to a deeper side than the first throat part in a height direction and opposing the main magnetic pole layer with a second gap spacing greater than the first gap spacing. A throat height determining layer is provided on the main magnetic pole layer or the magnetic gap layer, the throat height determining layer defining a dimension of the first throat part of the return yoke layer in the height direction and formed of an inorganic nonmagnetic material.

    摘要: A physical quantity sensor includes a support substrate, anchor portions fixed to a top surface of the support substrate, a movable portion positioned above the support substrate and supported by the anchor portions with support portions provided therebetween such that the movable portion is movable in a height direction, and detection portions for detecting a displacement of the movable portion. The support portions include beam portions provided between the movable portion and the anchor portions such that spring portions are provided between the beam portions and each of the movable portion and the anchor portions, the beam portions having a rigidity higher than a rigidity of the spring portions. The movable portion translates in the height direction owing to twisting of the spring portions and displacements in the height direction of distal ends of the beam portions, the movable portion being supported at the distal end.

    摘要: In a method for manufacturing a perpendicular magnetic recording head, a groove defined by the inner side surfaces of a first nonmagnetic layer and the top surface of a main magnetic pole layer is formed using the difference in etching rates for dry etching between the main magnetic pole layer and the first nonmagnetic layer. An auxiliary magnetic pole layer is formed on the groove with a nonmagnetic material layer disposed therebetween. A projection integrated with the auxiliary magnetic pole layer is formed in a recess of the nonmagnetic material layer on the groove. This projection extends toward the main magnetic pole layer.
