摘要: An optical element that produces line bow, for example, a toric or cylindrical mirror or lens, is provided in a light-supplying optical device in addition to a first line-bow-producing optical element already present in the device so that a substantially straight line of light is formed on an original document. The light-supplying optical device also includes a light source that generates illuminating light to illuminate the original document and the first optical element that has a toric surface for collecting the illuminating light onto the original document and that is positioned so that the illuminating light shines at a certain angle relative to its toric surface. With this device, the second optical element having a toric surface is positioned in the optical path of the light source and of the original document so as to offset the curve of the illuminating light that otherwise would be generated on the original document by the first optical element.

摘要: A digital still camera includes an image-capturing device, a recording device that records a subject image captured by the image-capturing device into an image recording medium, a first monitor device and a second monitor device. The images repeatedly captured by the image-capturing device are displayed in real time at the first monitor device and, at the same time, a photographic support image having been captured by the image-capturing device is displayed at the second monitor device. A single image or a plurality of images recorded in the image recording medium, for instance, may be displayed at the second monitor device as the photographic support image. Alternatively, an image obtained by partially enlarging the image displayed at the first monitor device may be displayed at the second monitor device.

摘要: A polarization converting element includes: a main body that is made from a transparent member; an incident section that is provided to the main body, and upon which light generated from a light source is incident; an annular reflecting section that is formed on the periphery of the incident section; and a polarization splitting section that is formed opposite to the annular reflecting section on the emission side of light incident upon the incident section. One polarized light component of the incident light passes through the main body and is emitted from the polarization splitting section. Another polarized light component of the incident light is reflected towards the annular reflecting section by the polarization splitting section, and is emitted from the polarization splitting section after having again been reflected by the annular reflecting section and having been converted into light of a same polarization component as the light of the one polarized light component.

摘要: An image reading system that reads long-type film images and displays the images on a monitor screen. The image reading system includes a display method having the capability to effectively utilize, on the monitor screen, all of the image information that is on the film, and which allows easy imaging capability of the final image when changes have been made to the original image. The image reading system creates first image data corresponding to roughly the entire body of the image storage region based on the image signal, and creates second image data corresponding to the image of the image storage region that has been trimmed based on trimming-related related information included in the image signal and magnetic information. The image reading system displays the first image corresponding to the first image data and the second image corresponding to the second image data on the display.

摘要: The line bow phenomenon is reduced by appropriately setting the reflective surface and/or the external shape of an optical element (e.g., a toric mirror) thereby realizing approximately linear illumination of the surface of the original document that is being read. In order to do this, optical elements can be formed so that the external shape of the reflective surface of the optical element is bow-shaped. Alternatively, the optical element can be arranged so that the optical axis of the reflective surface is parallel to the axis of the light reflected from the reflective surface.
