Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a request to establish a multicast session. The request may identify a multicast service session including a multicast quality of service flow. The UE may receive, from a base station wirelessly communicating with the UE, an indication of communication resources for the UE to use to receive multicast packets of the multicast service session from a content provider via a tunnel between a first network node and the base station. The tunnel may be established for the multicast service session based on identifying that the multicast service session lacks an existing tunnel between the first network node and the base station. The UE may identify a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle for the multicast service session, and receive the multicast packets from the base station according to the indicated communication resources and the identified DRX cycle.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless communications system may support multicast transmissions from a base station to multiple user equipments (UEs). Each UE may have uplink resources allocated for providing feedback to the base station regarding multicast transmissions. For example, a UE may not successfully decode one or more frames of a multicast transmission. When a UE does not successfully decode the one or more frames, the UE may transmit negative acknowledgment (NACK) feedback indicating the one or more frames that were not successfully received. A serving base station may store frames within a buffer for a transmission window and retransmit each of the frames indicated within the NACK feedback from the stored frames. In some cases, the serving base station may not retransmit frames that were not indicated within the NACK feedback (e.g., frames that may have been received successfully by the UE).

Abstract: The present disclosure provides techniques that may be applied, for example, in a multi-slice network for maintaining privacy when attempting to access the network. An exemplary method generally includes transmitting a registration request message to a serving network to register with the serving network; receiving a first confirmation message indicating a secure connection with the serving network has been established; transmitting, after receiving the first confirmation message, a secure message to the serving network comprising an indication of at least one configured network slice that the UE wants to communicate over, wherein the at least one configured network slice is associated with a privacy flag that is set; and receiving a second confirmation message from the serving network indicating that the UE is permitted to communicate over the at least one configured network slice.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device transmits an indication of whether the device should be paged over a 3GPP access when a core network has data ready to transmit for PDU sessions over a non-3GPP access. A session management function (SMF) of the core network receives a data notification indicating that the core network has data ready to transmit to the wireless device for a PDU session over the non-3GPP access. The SMF determines whether to transmit a paging request to an access and mobility management function (AMF) of the core network based on a paging state of the SMG, a paging state of the wireless device, or a connection management idleness state of the wireless device. The AMF determines whether to transmit a paging message to the wireless device.

Abstract: Techniques for aggregating heterogeneous carriers in a wireless communication system are disclosed. A mobile device may receive a configuration for aggregating a plurality of component carriers including one or more cellular carriers and a wireless local area network (WLAN) carrier. The one or more cellular carriers may include LTE carriers, and aggregation may be performed at a sub-IP protocol layer of operation. In one aspect, protocol entities may be modified to perform quality of service determinations, carrier selection, traffic mapping, or the like, in view of the different capabilities and characteristics of the heterogeneous carriers in the carrier aggregation configuration.

Abstract: Various features pertain to the authentication of mobile devices or other User Equipment. In some aspects, a Retail-based Neutral Host LTE is provided for use with Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks that, among other features, provides a WiFi Alliance HotSpot 2.0 (HS2.0) user experience using LTE technology for non-mobile network operator (non-MNO) Service Providers (SPs), while maintaining high security assurances as with LTE. That is, in some examples, Retail Neutral Host-LTE is configured to provide the same or similar security assurances as with MNO-based LTE. Moreover, retail Neutral Host-LTE offers options for provisioning credentials and authentication with the AAA that are analogous to the options for HS2.0, that is: username/password, SP-issued certificate, and pre-configured mobile device certificate. This is achieved, at least in part, while providing or ensuring that Retail Neutral Host-LTE security provides similar security assurances to MNO-based LTE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may establish a dynamic coverage enhancement (CE) configuration and then autonomously transition from one CE level to another while in idle mode. The network may blindly detect the CE change during a paging procedure. For example, a mobility management entity (MME) may store dynamic CE information, and it may provide the dynamic CE information to base stations when the UE is paged. In some cases, the base stations may autonomously retransmit paging messages at different CE levels based on the dynamic CE information. In other examples, the MME may direct the base station to retransmit at different CE levels.
