Abstract:
A backpack with quick deploying body armor includes a backpack having a front compartment and rear compartment which has an opening on the top of the backpack; the opening can be closed by a flap which has open and closed positions; the flap can be locked to the top of the backpack. A rear ballistic panel is attached to the vertical face of the rear compartment. A front ballistic panel module has two connecting straps connecting to the bottom face of the rear compartment and two pulling straps. The front ballistic panel module has a storage position and deployed position. In the storage to position, the front ballistic panel is in the rear compartment and the pulling straps are attached to the shoulder straps of the backpack. In the deployed position, the front ballistic panel is out of the rear compartment and the pulling strap is fastened to the body of the wearer by connecting the end of the pulling strap.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for additive fabrication which helps to prevent the newly hardened layer from being separated from the previously formed layer of the object while the foil is peeled from the newly hardened layer is provided. In one embodiment, use of a peel angle helps prevent the newly hardened layer from being separated from the previously formed layer during peeling by distributing the peeling force so that less of the z-direction component of the peeling force is applied to the newly hardened layer. In another embodiment, the object can be oriented to initiate the peel at an area, of the object which results in a lesser initial peeling force applied to the newly hardened layer.
Abstract:
A system and method for layer-by-layer production of an object is provided. The system includes a construction shape having a carrying surface adapted for carrying a layer of build material, a plate having a holding surface adapted for holding an object in an object build area, a moveable reservoir having a plurality of containment surfaces defining a containment area adapted for containing a volume of build material within the moveable reservoir, and an exposure unit adapted for exposing at least a portion of the layer of build material in the object build area so that the portion of the layer of build material solidifies to form a solidified layer of the object.
Abstract:
Incorporating antimicrobial metals, such as silver salts, into an anticorrosion coating provides both excellent antimicrobial protection and surprisingly improves the anti corrosion activity as well, proving anti corrosion coatings effective as thin films and well suited for coating medical devices. Suitable binder polymers for the coating include but not limited to polyelectrolytes containing charged and/or potentially chargeable groups and polymers containing hydrophilic entities.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of forming a drug eluting stent, the method comprising coupling a stent framework to a mandrel, inserting the mandrel with stent framework into an open die, the die including a forming surface including a plurality of raised indentation forming portions; closing the die against the stent framework; pressing the raised indentation portions into the stent framework to form indentation in the stent framework; and inserting at least one drug polymer into the indentation formed in the stent framework.
