摘要: A press-in fastening apparatus and method couples a screw with a nut by pushing the screw through an opening of the nut along a slip axis and rotating the nut to align a lock axis with the inserted screw. The opening of the nut along the slip axis has a diameter greater than the diameter of the screw and the opening of the nut along the lock axis has a diameter that engages screw threads with nut threads. In one embodiment, the nut is disposed in a housing coupled to an information handling system and biased to align with the lock axis so that a module is secured to the information handling system by aligning a screw coupled to the module with the nut and pushing the screw into the nut. The module is removed from the information handling system by unscrewing the screw with engagement of the screw threads and nut threads.

摘要: A cutting tool for a milling, drilling or turning machine has a body with a plurality of sides and a central opening. Each side has a perimeter along which cutting planes or edges are formed. Each side has at least two such cutting planes or edges. The planes may have a straight or curved profile, or a combination of straight and curved profiles along one side. The tool may have a plurality of such cutting planes formed along each side of the tool body. The cutting planes may be located at different levels in relation to each other, entering a work piece in sequence, or may be aligned to enter the work piece simultaneously. Preferably, the cutting planes are staggered in two directions—in a feeding direction and in a cutting direction. By dividing each surface being cut into a plurality of segments, the cutting tool creates a plurality of distinct shavings, or splinters that have shorter length in comparison with conventional splinters formed by indexable tips. Shorter cuts require less cutting force, which saves wear on the cutting tool and the machine. At the same time, the cuts can be made deeper and smoother when dividing the cutting surface into a plurality of segments.

摘要: An electronic device, such as a hand-held portable computer, is provided with client-side email capability that allows emails to be independently downloaded from a server, regardless of an operating mode of an email application and without using the standard email retrieval mechanism of the email application. The emails are periodically downloaded without attachments in response to a poll of the server and if a sufficient high-speed connection to the server is available, and then the downloaded email is locally stored in a local cache of the portable computer. Attachments associated with downloaded emails stored in the local cache can be selectively downloaded, via a background process, from the server independently of the operating mode of the email application and during any suitable power state of the electronic device. Synchronization of attachments to emails in the local cache is also independently performed, thereby bypassing synchronization that is normally performed by the email application while in the online mode.

摘要: In a graphical desktop environment displaying desktop components, a control is provided to track the position of a pointer on a screen, and when the pointer enters relevant regions with respect to a desktop component, a thin or thick border in displayed around the desktop component to enable a user to resize the desktop component, and/or a caption bar is displayed along an edge of the component to enable a user to move the desktop component on the desktop. The caption bar may additionally be provided with menu and close buttons, to enable the user to bring up a menu of properties and/or actions for the desktop component, and close the desktop component, respectively. When the pointer is outside any region relevant to a desktop component, no borders or caption bars are displayed, thereby resulting in a visually less cluttered appearance.

摘要: A control system for the fuel pump of an internal combustion engine includes a fuel determining network which controls the conduction of an output transistor by way of an input transistor. A transducer provides an operator demand signal to the network. In the event of failure of the network the transducer is arranged to control the supply of base circuit to the output transistor so that the conduction of the output transistor is directly controlled. The output transistor controls the flow of current in the winding of an actuator for the control member of the fuel pump.

摘要: There is disclosed a system for sharing power among interconnected tools which is made up of multiple battery-powered tools, each with a battery. Each tool and its battery are electrically connected to a hub, and the hub is adapted to provide charging current to each battery, to monitor the charge level of each battery and to direct current from one battery with a higher charge level to a battery with a lower charge level. The system is also adapted to enable the hub to direct power to corded electric tools.

摘要: A power drop assembly is disclosed which, in general, includes a power cord housing, a reel, a power cord, a female power outlet, an electrical input, switching circuitry, and a controller. The reel is positioned within the power cord housing. The reel is rotatably connected to the power cord housing. The power cord is mechanically attached to the reel. The female power outlet is mechanically and electrically attached to the power cord. The switching circuitry is electrically connected to the electrical input. The switching circuitry selectively, electrically connects the electrical input and the power cord. The switching circuitry is electrically connected to the power cord. The controller is communicatively connected to the switching circuitry for controlling the switching circuitry. The controller is also connected to circuitry programmed for regulating the amount of power available to the power cord. The switching circuitry and the regulating circuitry determine whether power is available and how much power is available. The switching circuitry may also be configured to act as a circuit breaker.
