摘要: Knockout animals in which a gene encoding a SASPase has been deleted (hereinafter, referred to as SASPase KO animals) are provided. The SASPase KO animals deficient in expression of functional SASPase were produced by deleting a gene encoding a stratified epithelium-specific protease, SASPase, through targeted disruption. The SASPase KO animals showed a significant increase in wrinkles on the sides of the body and so on. The SASPase KO animals find utility as animal models of wrinkles.

摘要: An audio communication system includes a first analog/digital convertor, a second analog/digital convertor, and an echo canceller. The first analog/digital convertor converts an audio signal, which is input from a microphone, to a data signal. The second analog/digital convertor that converts an audio signal, which is input from an auxiliary input terminal, to a data signal. When an audio signal transmitted from the outside is received and output from a speaker, the echo canceller prevents an output of the speaker from being input through the microphone and echoed back to a recipient or remote device. An operating frequency of the echo canceller is relatively lower than a sampling frequency of the second analog/digital convertor.

摘要: An optical distance measuring apparatus is provided which is designed to transmit a laser beam in a cycle to scan a two-dimensional detection zone and to receive a return of the laser beam from a target through a light sensitive unit to determine data on the distance to the target. The light sensitive unit is made of a matrix of cells which are selectively activated in each scan cycle of the laser beam for minimizing optical interference with incoming light other than the return of the laser beam from the target in determining the data on the distance to the target.

摘要: A pseudo random noise code is generated synchronously with a reference clock signal. A first forward electromagnetic wave is transmitted in response to the pseudo random noise code. A first echo wave is received which is caused by reflection of the first forward electromagnetic wave at an object. The received first echo wave is converted into a binary signal. A value of a correlation between the binary signal and the pseudo random noise code is repetitively calculated at a predetermined period having a synchronous relation with the reference clock signal. A time interval taken by the first forward electromagnetic wave and the first echo wave to travel to and from the object is measured in response to a timing at which the calculated correlation value peaks. Then, a second forward electromagnetic wave is transmitted in response to a transmitted pulse signal is transmitted. A second echo wave related to the second forward electromagnetic wave is received. The received second echo wave is converted into a received pulse signal. A delay circuit defers the transmitted pulse signal by a delay time corresponding to the measured time interval to generate a delayed transmitted pulse signal. A phase difference between the received pulse signal and the delayed transmitted pulse signal is measured at a resolution higher than a resolution corresponding to the predetermined period of the correlation-value calculation. A distance to the object is calculated on the basis of the measured time interval and the measured phase difference.

摘要: The oblique bed wall (6) of the furnace main unit (1) is inclined in downward direction towards the ash discharge outlet (5). Oblique side walls (24R, 24L) are formed in the right and left side walls (1c, 1d) on the inlet (4) side of the furnace main unit (1), and fluidized bed material (S) blown up from the side fluid layers (RS, LS) is guided into the central fluid layer (CS). The fluidized bed material (S) is caused to circulate in succession from the central fluid layer (CS) at the inlet (4) side towards the central fluid layer (CS) at the ash discharge outlet (5) side towards side fluid layers (RS, LS) at the ash discharge outlet (5) side towards side fluid layers (RS, LS) at the inlet (4) side towards central fluid layer (CS) at the inlet (4) side, by dispersive air emitted from dispersive air pipes (21A, 21B, 25). In this way, the fluidized bed material (S) is caused to circulate in virtually a horizontal plane without partitioning walls. Slow combustion is conducted due to a slow fluid speed, particularly in the drying and pyrolyzing zone. Stable combustion is achieved, and generation of carbon monoxide and dioxin is suppressed.
