Abstract:
Novel pentacyclic steroids and pentacyclic D-homosteroids comprising: (i) the tetracyclic steroid ring system or tetracyclic D-homosteroid ring system, respectively; (ii) a C(3) substituent selected from the group consisting of (a) a hydroxyl or carboxyl in the α-configuration and (b) a sulfate or other negatively charged moiety; and (iii) a fused fifth ring, the fused fifth ring comprising a hydrogen bond acceptor, and (a) in the case of the pentacyclic steroid the C(13) and C(17) carbons, or (b) in the case of the pentacyclic D-homosteroid the C(13) and C(17a) carbons, having utility as anesthetics and in the treatment of disorders relating to GABA function and activity.
Abstract:
A template processor converts an initial template document into an XSL template that can be used to automatically generate reports from report data extracted from a database or other application. Users create initial template documents using a word processor or other rich-text editing application. The initial template document employs the word processor's native formatting features to specify the formatting of report data. The initial template document includes placeholder tags inserted by the user to define the locations of report data in the report. The initial template document also includes transformation tags that dynamically define the content of a report based on the value or quantity of report data. The template processor can include a reader adapted to read portions of the initial template file and a parser adapted to create corresponding XSL code from these portions. The XSL template can be combined with XML-formatted data to create a report.
Abstract:
This invention provides, but is not limited to, novel oleanolic acid derivatives having the formula: wherein the variables are defined herein. Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions, kits and articles of manufacture comprising such compounds, methods and intermediates useful for making the compounds, and methods of using the compounds and compositions.
Abstract:
Methods, compositions and kits are provided for high throughput detection of micro RNAs (miRNA), especially for sensitive and specific detection of miRNA that are in low abundance and closely related to each other. In particular, an assembly of designed oligonucleotide probes with unique tag sequences is used to achieve these purposes via high throughput microarrays, optionally in conjunction with branched-DNA based array detection. The assays can be used for diagnosis, prognosis or monitoring of diseases or disorders such as cancer, for pharmacogenomic studies of patient stratification and drug responses, for discovery of therapeutic targets, or for forensic analysis.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of the invention provide human receptors and membrane-associated proteins (REMAP) and Q polynucleotides which identify and encode REMAP. Embodiments of the invention also provide expression vectors, host cells, antibodies, agonists, and antagonists. Other embodiments provide methods for diagnosing, treating, or preventing disorders associated with aberrant expression of REMAP.
Abstract:
This disclosure describes systems, methods and software programs for transforming and/or translating a variety of documents, including without limitation XSL documents. In one aspect, any static information may be removed from XSL/FO files before transforming those files. This can greatly enhance the speed of transformation of such files. In another aspect, an XSL/FO file can be tagged in order to allow for the identification of the translatable data, such that the translatable data can be removed from the XSL/FO file and inserted into an XLIFF file. The translatable data can be then translated (e.g., by an automated process, by a human translator, etc.) and/or inserted back into an XSL file after translation.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of the invention provide human lipid-associated molecules (LIPAM) and polynucleotides which identify and encode LIPAM. Embodiments of the invention also provide expression vectors, host cells, antibodies, agonists, and antagonists. Other embodiments provide methods for diagnosing, treating, or preventing disorders associated with aberrant expression of LIPAM.
Abstract:
A method is provided for screening for agents that affect protein degradation rates, the method comprising: taking a library of cells, the cells expressing a fusion protein comprising a reporter protein and a protein encoded by a sequence from a cDNA library derived from a sample of cells, the sequence from the cDNA library varying within the cell library; contacting the library of cells with a plurality of agents which may affect protein degradation rates; for each agent, selecting cells in the library which express short-lived proteins based on whether the cells have different reporter signal intensities than other cells in the library, the difference being indicative of the selected cells expressing shorter lived fusion proteins than the fusion proteins expressed by the other cells in the library; and characterizing the fusion proteins expressed by the selected cells for each agent.
Abstract:
This application describes, among others, fiber ring networks with two fiber rings to provide local fiber failure protection in each node and capability for each node to broadcast to other nodes, and to establish uni-directional and bi-directional communications with one or more selected nodes. Each optical channel may have a single optical break point in the ring networks and this single optical break point is located in a designated node. Various application may advantageously use such ring networks such as ring networks with asymmetric traffic like video-on-demand systems and other information systems.
Abstract:
A method of and system for evaluating contacts stored in data source. In one embodiment the method allows a user to define a data format; allows a user to define a plurality of rules intended to operate on and assess a quality of data formatted according to the data format; map data identifying a plurality of contacts from the data source to the data format; and execute the plurality of rules on the mapped data to produce a set of analyzed data that allows evaluation of potential contacts according to an assessed quality of the data.
