Abstract:
A system and method for ensuring large and frequent updates to a data warehouse. The process leverages a set of temporary staging tables to track the updates. A set of intermediate steps are performed to accomplish bulk deletions of the outdated changed records, and perform modifications to the map tables for models such as snowflake. Finally, bulk load operations load the updates and insert them into the final dimension tables. The process ensures performance comparable to insertion-only schemes with at most only slight performance degradation. Furthermore, a modified process is applied on the newfact data warehouse dimension model. The process can be readily adapted to handle star schema and other hierarchical data warehouse models.

Method comprising: originating service provider negotiating license with 3rd party service provider over certain software service run by 3rd party service provider; license stipulating life cycle information of software service, enabling originating service provider to automatically obtain software service; 3rd party provider delivering software service to originating service provider in response to agreements of license; and originating service provider automatically deploying software service in self-hosted environment according to stipulation of the license. Based on the method and apparatus of the present invention, the service provider can automatically and flexibly obtain a software service to reduce costs of the service provider and ensure quality of the software service, and facilitate the expansion of software service filed and software service update.
Abstract:
A method of data loading for large information warehouses includes performing checkpointing concurrently with data loading into an information warehouse, the checkpointing ensuring consistency among multiple tables; and recovering from a failure in the data loading using the checkpointing. A method is also disclosed for performing versioning concurrently with data loading into an information warehouse. The versioning method enables processing undo and redo operations of the data loading between a later version and a previous version. Data load failure recovery is performed without starting a data load from the beginning but rather from a latest checkpoint for data loading at an information warehouse level using a checkpoint process characterized by a state transition diagram having a multiplicity of states; and tracking state transitions among the states using a system state table.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an effective method for migrating the system services on which applications depend, rather than all of the system services, from a source OS platform to a target platform, in order to provide a suitable and consistent environment for the applications, while reducing the cost of the migration. The migration method further classifies the configurations of system services on different platforms into common configurations and specific configurations to accelerate the determination of the source of a migration error.
Abstract:
An improved system and method for implementing efficient decoding of scalable video bitstreams is provided. A virtual decoded picture buffer is provided for each lower layer of the scalable video bitstream. The virtual decoded picture buffer stores decoded lower layer pictures for reference. The decoded lower layer pictures used for reference are compiled to create a reference picture list for each layer. The reference picture list generated by the virtual decoded picture buffer is used during a direct prediction process instead of a target reference list to correctly decode a current macroblock.

A system, method and program enabling users to diagnose applications easily without affecting the operating performance of the application server, optimizing the log mechanism based on the integrated development environment. The method includes running the application in a main running environment and at least one shadow environment, the shadow environment obtained by duplicating the main running environment; and the main running environment interacting with the shadow environment with respect to the fault of the application. The method includes performing the steps of the main running environment: monitoring the exceptions in the system and sending system exception information to the shadow environment in the event of finding exceptions in the system. The shadow environment: receives the system exception information, opens diagnostic log/trace functions to obtain diagnosis log/trace files related to the system exceptions, and analyzes the diagnosis result based on the obtained diagnosis log/trace files.

A context fusing system and methodology includes the steps of receiving context data from a plurality of information sources; computing a quality measure for each input context value; organizing context values into one or more clusters, and assigning a single context value and a single quality measure to each cluster; and, selecting one or more clusters according to one or more criteria and aggregating the context values and quality measures of selected clusters to generate a single context value and single quality measure. The single context value and single quality measure are usable by a context aware application to avoid conflict and ambiguity among different information sources providing the context data.
