Abstract: A method for operating computing devices (CDs) to display an electronic document (ED), including: obtaining, by a first CD having a first touchscreen, a first plurality of screen coordinates associated with a first portion of a first gesture performed by a user; obtaining, by the first CD and from a second CD having a second touchscreen, a second plurality of screen coordinates associated with a second portion of the first gesture performed by the user; determining, by the first CD and based on the first plurality of screen coordinates and the second plurality of screen coordinates, an alignment of the first touchscreen and the second touchscreen; and displaying, by the first CD and based on the alignment, a first segment of the ED on the first touchscreen, where the second CD displays a second segment of the ED on the second touchscreen while the first segment is displayed.

Abstract: A server, system, and method are disclosed for ensuring uniform level of color of distributed print jobs, wherein each of the plurality of printers is configured to conduct color validation and/or color calibration based on a first criterion. The server having a processor configured to: receive, from a client computer, a request relating to a print job; determine whether the received print job is a split job, which can be split amongst the plurality of the printers; filter at least two printers each having an in-line spectrophotometer from the plurality of printers; and instruct to the each filtered at least two printers so that color validation and/or color calibration is performed based on a second criterion by using the in-line spectrophotometer, wherein the second criterion causes color validation and/or color calibration at each of the each filtered at least two printers to be performed earlier than the first criterion.

Abstract: A DNA ligand capable of structural changes upon binding to a target is used as a molecular switch with a SPFS (surface plasmon field-enhanced fluorescence spectroscopy) biosensor to realize one-step SPFS biosensing with rapid turnaround time. The SPFS biosensor has a thin metal film on a prism; when a light of a certain wavelength irradiates on the prism at a certain angle, a strong electrical field is generated at the surface of the metal film. The DNA is immobilized on the metal film surface with its free terminal modified with a fluorescent marker. Without the target, the DNA is folded and the fluorescent marker is located in the region of metal quenching near the metal surface. Upon binding to the target, the DNA is extended and the fluorescent marker is located in the region of enhanced electric field near the metal surface and emits a strong fluorescent signal.

Abstract: In a document image segmentation method, pixels of the image are classified into different types such as background, text, table, etc., to generate an initial segmentation map. The initial segmentation map is processed multiple rounds. In each round, a working map is divided into 2×2 pixel blocks; based on pixel types in the block, a corresponding pixel in a combined map is assigned a type, and pixels in a corresponding block in the segmentation map are modified either to change some background pixels to other types or keep them unchanged. The initial segmentation map is used as the working map in the first round, and the combined map of the last round is used as the working map for the next round. After a number of rounds, remaining background pixels of the segmentation map are changed to other types based on the types of their neighboring areas.

Abstract: A method and related apparatus for processing print jobs, which automatically edits both the document to be printed and the job ticket based on a state or content of the document itself, without user intervention, to achieve certain printing effects such as inserting tab sheets of slip sheets, removing pages, inserting annotations, changing finishing settings, etc. In one specific example, by checking whether each page includes a specific key phrase or is associated with a specific bookmark, the document and the job ticket are automatically edited so that a tab sheet or slip sheet is inserted at a corresponding position. A program is also provided to emulate the result of the editing the print job and original document.

Abstract: A method is disclosed of embedding a GPS location of a host device in an IPv6 address using IPv6 Neighbor Discovery, the method includes sending a neighbor solicitation request having a Global Positioning System (GPS) option from a first host device to an IPv6 server via an IPv6 communication network, the GPS option providing GPS information of the first host device; receiving the neighbor solicitation request having the GPS option on the IPv6 server, the IPv6 server configured to capture the neighbor solicitation request and create an IPv6 address with GPS information for the first host device; sending a neighbor discovery advertisement from the IPv6 server to the first host device; receiving the neighbor discovery advertisement and returning a solicit, request and renew message to the IPv6 server; and returning a reply message to the first host device with the IPv6 address with the GPS information.
