    Abstract: A spray nozzle assembly includes a body and a spray tip supported on the body. The spray tip includes a fluid inlet passage that terminates in an end wall. An annular discharge passage is arranged in the spray tip downstream of the end wall and the fluid inlet passage. The annular discharge passage defines a circular ridge in an external downstream surface of the spray tip. A plurality of discharge orifices through which fluid is discharged from the spray tip provided in the circular ridge. Each discharge orifice communicates with the annular discharge orifice and is formed in a respective notch in the circular ridge with each notch having at least one sidewall that defines a deflector surface for the respective discharge orifice.

    Abstract: A fluidized bed coating system for coating substrate particles with liquid and powder. The system includes a vessel having a particle separating partition that divides an internal chamber of the vessel into up-bed and down-bed regions. An upstanding spray nozzle within the particle separating partition for directing pressurized coating liquid upwardly into the up-bed region such that particles are liquid coated as they circulate through the up-bed and down-bed regions. A coating powder directing system is provided that includes a controller managed powder delivery manifold for directing coating powder and pressurized gas under the particle separating partition and below the discharge orifices of the spray nozzle for coating the liquid coated particles with a uniform thickness of coating powder as they are recirculated through the up-bed and down-bed regions.

    Abstract: A liquid slurry spraying system for spraying highly viscous slurries, including those with solids content, while maintaining the slurry in agitated condition for optimum discharge. The spraying system includes a nozzle body with a liquid flow passage having a liquid slurry inlet adjacent an upstream end and a spray tip at a downstream end, a valve needle supported in the liquid flow passage for reciprocating movement between spray tip closing and opening positions, and a bladed rotor having a plurality of vanes rotatably supported on the valve needle for rotation as an incident to the direction of liquid slurry from said liquid inlet when the valve needle is in an open position for agitating the liquid slurry for direction to the spray tip.

    Abstract: A liquid spraying system having an electrically operated pulse width modulation control for directing a modulated liquid discharge based upon frequency and duty cycle of a reciprocally operated liquid control valve. The spray nozzle assembly includes a nozzle body having an inwardly converging conical chamber communicating between an upstream liquid directing plate and a downstream liquid discharge passage.     Abstract: An electrostatic sprayer operable at high flow rates and low pressures particularly suitable for spray drying. The sprayer includes an elongated body having a downstream spray nozzle assembly through which electrically charged liquid is directed via a central feed tube within the nozzle body and atomizing air is supplied via an annular passage about the liquid feed tube. In one embodiment, the nozzle assembly is an external mix cluster head spray nozzle assembly having a plurality of circumferentially spaced metallic spray tips. In another embodiment, the spray nozzle is an internal mix nozzle assembly having a spray tip with an internal mixing chamber for atomizing liquid prior to discharge.
