Abstract:
An anatomical drape (1 a or 1b), such as a dental drape, for covering a treatment area of an anatomical part, the drape comprising an elastomeric material capable of conforming to the contours of the anatomical part and including a curing agent (9) contained within internal channels distributed in the drape; and wherein activation of the curing agent, for example by a light source, causes hardening of the material to at least partially set the drape in a configuration conforming to the anatomical part. The semi-rigid set drape is liquid impermeable but gas permeable. A method of manufacturing the drape is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method for fabricating a denture using, among other devices, a semi-custom thermoplastic tray. The thermoplastic tray is customized over a mold of an edentulous ridge. The thermoplastic tray has a handle that it trimmed off after its use as a tray thereby converting the thermoplastic tray into a base plate for continued fabrication of the denture. This allows the denture to be completed in only a few days with the patient making a trip to the dentist for the initial fabrication steps and then a second time to pick the finalized denture.
Abstract:
An advanced thermoplastic orthodontic retainer is disclosed. The prior art includes a clear piece of thermoplastic material of uniform thickness which is then heated to a soft state and adapted to a stone model of a patient's teeth. The present invention incorporates a gradient of thickness of the plastic running from one end to the other. This gradient will exist in the final retainer, and it will take into account the normal pattern of opening and closing of the jaw during which the posterior segment is open less than the anterior segment when the teeth are close to contacting. The present invention retains the ease of fabrication, low cost, and aesthetics of the currently prescribed removable appliance while improving the durability and functionality. Dentists and orthodontists can use the present invention to prevent the unwanted side effects of the prior art including but not limited to posterior open-bites.
Abstract:
Made of a durable and auto-claveable material including a handle portion of the intra-oral tongue/cheek retractor with a mirror device with an offset in the handle, with a handle flat surface on the mirror side, and with a retention end of handle; at least one mirror or mirrored surface; and a manner for securing/holding or having a mirror or mirrored surface to the handle flat surface on the mirror side where the device can free-up hands of a professional and/or an assistant; can remove any extra “hardware” in a mouth of a patient; provides better visual feedback from the mouth of the patient to the professional; is useable for dental procedures and oral surgery; and is sterilizable in conventional dental or surgical machines.
Abstract:
A method of making a machinable puck of a hard, solvent free, substantially non-hydrophilic polyurethane elastomer for use in fabricating dental appliances. The elastomer has a hardness of not less than about Shore D65. A first polyester or polyether polyol with a functionality greater than two and a molecular weight greater than one hundred is reacted with an isocyanate prepolymer prepared from one or more branched polyester or polyether polyols with a functionality greater than two; and then blending prepolymer and first polyester or polyether polyol with nanoparticles and colorants as needed. In one embodiment, the polypropylene glycol triether and the isocyanate prepolymer comprises dicyclohexylmethane 4,4′-diisocyanate. The machined, elastomer appliance is able to be heated in hot water to make it flexible and formable for individual, customed-fitting for the patient.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a handheld part for dental or surgical use that comprises static components, i.e. head and body, and dynamic components, i.e. dented wheels, drivers, turbines, characterized in that some at least of the static and/or dynamic components are made of a metallic alloy that solidifies at least partially in an amorphous phase in the volume.
Abstract:
Dental instruments and appliances made from a super-flexible alloy, which includes atoms from the group IVB and group VB transition metals and oxygen have superior strength and flexibility. The metal alloys are cold worked to increase the tensile strength of the dental instruments and appliances. Cold working the metal also increases the flexibility of the dental instruments and appliances. In one particular example a super-elastic endodontic file is described.
Abstract:
An electric toothbrush replacement head device includes: a toothbrush replacement head. The toothbrush replacement head includes: a toothbrush handle and a toothbrush head, a bottom of the toothbrush handle defines a bottom hole, the toothbrush head includes: a brush component, and the brush component includes: bristles. The toothbrush handle is provided with a hollow fixing column therein, which is located at a lower end of the toothbrush handle, a middle part of the fixing column is provided with an elastic sheet, and a bottom of the fixing column defines a mounting hole. A new type of the electric toothbrush replacement head device with a simpler structure, more flexible assembly and disassembly, more convenient use, better teeth cleaning effect, and stronger stability is provided.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a zirconia sintered body that excels in both mechanical strength and translucency, and a zirconia molded body and zirconia pre-sintered body capable of providing such a zirconia sintered body, and containing a binder in an amount that assumes a thickness of 10 mm or more. The invention also provides methods of production of these. The present invention relates to a zirconia molded body comprising: a zirconia particle containing 2.0 to 9.0 mol % of yttria relative to the total number of moles of zirconium oxide and yttria, and having an average primary particle diameter of 60 nm or less; a polyol; and a binder, the polyol and the binder satisfying the 10 relational formula X1
