    Abstract: A portable screen with a raising and levelling system for raising a frame of the system containing a vibrating screen away from ground on which the system is positioned and for levelling the frame and vibrating screen for improved operation. A wheel assembly rigidly fixed relative to the frame extends from the frame at a first end wall where a first raising and levelling assembly is provided. At an opposite end wall of the frame, a second raising and levelling system is provided. First and second shedding roofs are respectively positioned over the wheel assembly and first and second hydraulic raising and levelling assemblies. With the portable screen having a raising and levelling system as disclosed, the system may be operated on sloping ground and/or ground having undulations and other protrubances.

    Abstract: A screening basket has one or more screen decks and has upright side walls integrated with cross beams. A side beam, at approximately the center of gravity of the basket, is integrated with each of the side walls as well as with the cross beams to provide a unitary, rugged basket capable of vibratory movement on a support frame. A pair of cross shafts extend transversely of the screening basket and project beyond the side walls. These shafts are journaled in the side beams and have one projecting end geared together for opposite rotation. These projecting ends carry semi-circular eccentric weights of different mass to provide an oval vibratory stroke of the screening basket upon rotation of the shafts. Adjusting mechanism is provided to adjust the relative position of the weights on the shafts to vary the angle of stroke. These weights are arranged to receive auxiliary weights to vary the amplitude of vibratory stroke as well as the shape of the stroke.

    Abstract: A multiple deck screening machine wherein the feed material is divided into separate equal fractions on a rubble screen deck and scalp screen decks. Each deck includes downwardly slanting distribution panels having serrated lower edges. Particulate flow over the serrated edges is divided into separate fractions. Each adjacent fraction passes into a different parallel vertical channel which serves a particular screen deck via a chute. The chutes and channels extend the full width of the screens. Flow across the serrated edges is separated due to the notches and tongues and upstanding dividers along the common edge to each notch and tongues. Each notch and tooth of the rubble screen deck is disposed in juxtaposition to an opposed tongues and notch respectively so that excess flow over a tongues may pass over its channel into the channel of the opposed notch. The rubble screen deck including a pair of downwardly and inwardly inclined distribution panels which oppose each other and define a flow gap therebetween. Each of the rubble screen deck distribution panels also having serrated lower edges and coacting so as to send an equal fraction of particulate flow to each of four lower scalp screen decks.

    Abstract: A portable loam screening apparatus includes a nearly-square, sloping shaker screen supported by a box-like frame. The frame has a tall end and a short end joined by two sides. Funneling surfaces directed toward the screen are provided along the upper edges of the tall end and the sides. A mixture of coarse material and finer material is dumped onto the shaker screen from the shovel of an excavating vehicle. The coarse material falls from the lower end of the shaker screen outside of the frame, and the finer material passes through the shaker screen to within the box-like frame. The separated finer material is directed to an outfeed conveyer by a hopper or feed conveyor within the frame. The outfeed conveyor extends through one of the sides. A set of wheels mounted to one side of the frame is movable relative to the frame from an operative position for transporting the apparatus to an inoperative position for resting the frame flush on the ground. A trailer hitch is mounted to the other side of the frame and the shaker power source is mounted above the hitch.

    Abstract: A stack of interfitting sieve trays are held in position on a carrier by an upstanding periperial wall on the carrier which engages the lower portion of the lower sieve tray, and by a plurality of clamp-down units which at their lower ends are pivotally connected to end portions of the carrier and at their upper ends include a lever operated hook mechanisms for engaging upper edge portions of the top sieve tray. Side edge portions of the carrier are provided with upper and lower bearing strips. These edge portions are received between upper and lower sets of cam rollers which are mounted onto web portions of side members which have been fashioned from channel stock. The side members carry bearing strips which contact and guide the side edges of the carrier. The clamp-down units are overweighted on their outer sides so that when released they will fall outwardly against stop means for limiting the amount of outward movement.

    Abstract: A grain cleaner including, in series, feeder chutes, an inlet manifold, vibrating apparatus, an outlet manifold and vertically extending outlet chutes. The feeder chutes are designed to have a specific minimum cross-sectional area ratio and they serve as conduits between grain elevators or scalpers and the inlet manifolds. The inlet manifold includes both an opening at the top for receiving a mixture of grain and foreign matter and side walls converging downwardly toward outlets. The outlets are located at one side of the inlet manifold near the lower end, each one being constructed to feed a stream of the mixture to one of a plurality of superposed screening decks. The mixture flowing through the outlets may be individually regulated by gates disposed therein to give uniform flows to each deck. Each deck includes a screen superposed over a pan. Whole grains are retained above the screen; fines, consisting of foreign matter, broken grains, and undersized grains, fall through the pores of the screen onto the pan. A vibrator is operatively assembled to shake the box and its contents at an acceleration of at least 3.4 times that of gravity and to exert a throw on the fines which is adequate to cause them to strike the underside of the screen and dislodge any material blinding any of the openings. The outlet manifold includes two outlets from each deck. One outlet is disposed to receive the grain which is retained on the screen. The other outlet is disposed to receive the fines on the pan. A passage in the outlet manifold adjoins each of the outlets and baffles are provided therein to horizontally deflect the grain or fines into different vertically extending outlet chutes. Below the outlet manifold, the outlet chutes are structured to laterally deflect the grain in one direction and the fines in another direction whereby all the grain will empty into a single duct and the fines will empty into another single duct.
