    Abstract: A system for sorting and dispensing packages includes a first conveyor system, a gate assembly with a plurality of chutes that receive at least two packages of a plurality of packages selectively dispensed from the first conveyor system, a second conveyor system that receives the plurality of packages selectively dispensed from the gate assembly, a sensor that senses a characteristic of the plurality of packages, and an electronic controller that receives signals from the sensor. The plurality of chutes each include a gate moveable via an actuator between a first position, in which the at least two packages are held within the respective chute, and a second position, in which the at least two packages are released from the respective chute onto the second conveyor system. The controller is configured to selectively control each actuator of the gate assembly based on signals received from the sensor.

    Abstract: A package sort cell includes a robot with an end of arm tool for transporting packages from an in-feed conveyor to a selected one of a plurality of out-feed conveyors or bins, the robot receiving instruction from the package reader as to which of the plurality of conveyors or bins to hand-off the package. An end of arm tool may be in the configuration of a conveyor which may be aligned with the out-feed conveyor on a bottom up movement. The end of arm tool may also be in the configuration of a hanging carriage frame suspending a conveyor in a top down movement. A worker platform may be provided which may be movable between in-use and out-of-use positions whereby upon robot downtime, the platform may move into the in-use position for a worker to temporarily takeover the transfer functions of the robot. A plurality of sort cells may be arranged in side by side relation adjacent a like plurality of package delivery points (e.g., truck bays) and include diverter conveyors to allow diversion of a selected quantity of packages from one cell to an adjacent cell when the adjacent cell has no associated package delivery occurring at that time.

    Abstract: Provided are a three-dimensional unloading system capable of unloading goods into a container and a control method of the three-dimensional unloading system. The system comprises: soring platforms; self-navigation carts; parcel identification devices; and positioning devices. The three-dimensional unloading system further comprises more than one shelf, the shelf consisting of a plurality of containers, each container being capable of storing good, and the shelf being mounted at a position close to an unloading outlet; a conveying device, on which a conveying frame is fixed; an unloading device, fixed on the conveying frame, the unloading device being capable of moving to the unloading outlet under the driving of the conveying device so as to receive the goods unloaded from the self-navigation cart, then moving to close to a predetermined container, and unloading the goods in the container; and a server, being wirelessly connected to a controller of the self-navigation cart.

    Abstract: A system and method for enhanced monitoring and sorting of delivery items, such as packages, which are moved and sorted via a delivery service conveyor device. Conventional systems may employ photocells, which detect interrupted light beams, to identify packages or delivery items along a conveyor path. The present system and method enhances photocell function by adding image detection and analysis to the mail path; and further by modifying the photocell signals to the sorter/conveyor control. The present sensing system is located in the same area on the transport as the photocell, and uses a camera to capture an image of the mail path in the photocell area. The system and method then analyze a package image to formulate a more accurate item detection signal, based on photocell data and image data, for input to the sorter/conveyor control system.
