Abstract:
A frame member is provided for a structure. The frame member includes a generally flat, elongated first surface having an elongated slot therein extending along an axis. The slot is defined by first and second converging sidewalls lying in corresponding planes which are at acute angles to the first surface. A first diverging outer abutment wall is generally perpendicular to the first converging sidewall and a second diverging outer abutment wall is generally perpendicular to the second converging sidewall. A first diverging inner abutment wall is generally perpendicular to the second converging sidewall and a second diverging inner abutment wall is generally perpendicular to the first converging sidewall.
Abstract:
A hinge assembly is provided for a frame structure. The hinge assembly includes a first generally flat plate having an inner face, an outer face and a bolt-receiving bore therethrough. The bolt-receiving bore extending between the inner face and the outer face along a bore axis at an acute angle to the outer face. A second generally flat plate has an inner face, an outer face and a bolt-receiving bore therethrough. The bolt-receiving bore in the second plate extending between the inner face and the outer face thereof along a bore axis at an acute angle to the outer face. A pin pivotably connects the first plate to the second plate. A first lip extends from the inner face of the first plate and a second lip extends from the inner face of the second plate.
Abstract:
A door hinge has a knuckle defining a pivot axis, a pair of leaves extending from the knuckle and pivotal relative to each other about the axis, a housing fixable in a door jamb or door edge, and a holder in the housing. The holder is formed by a pair of bent sheet-metal brackets together forming a cavity in which engages one of the hinge leaves. One of the brackets has a face forming an acute angle to the axis. A pair of rotatable and externally threaded spindles extending across the cavity are threaded to the one leaf such that rotation of the spindles adjusts a position of the one leaf in the cavity relative to the holder. An adjustment screw threaded in the housing bears on the angled face so that the screw can be rotated to press against the face and cam the holder axially.
Abstract:
A door assembly includes a track, a track header, a fixed door panel, at least two sliding door panels, a pivot mechanism, and a lock arrangement. The sliding door panels are slidably movable on the track between (1) a closed position wherein the sliding door panels are extended across the track, and (2) an open position wherein the sliding door panels are constructed and arranged to be in a compact, overlapping relationship with each other and the fixed door panel. The pivot mechanism is constructed and arranged to enable pivotal movement of the track with fixed door panel and the two sliding door panels mounted thereon about a pivot axis from a normal configuration to a breakaway configuration. The lock arrangement is constructed and arranged to releasably lock the track with respect to the track header to prevent pivotal movement of the track away from the normal configuration.
Abstract:
Cable system for use with an overhead door comprising: a header bracket; a floor assembly; at least one cable having a first end attached to the header bracket and a second end attached to the floor assembly.
Abstract:
An explosion-resisting window with a window frame and a sash frame, which accommodates a panel and is mounted in hinges on the window frame, so as to be tiltable, the sash frame nesting in the window frame in closed position. In order to obviate the need for an outer front glazing of armored glass while guaranteeing adequate safety against explosion shocks and permit the function of continuous ventilation if necessary in open position of the sash frame, the panel is made of armored glass and the window is provided with at least one tilt-limiting element, by means of which explosion-induced tilting of the sash frame in the hinges beyond a tilt-limit position can be resisted. There is at least one shift-limiting element, by means of which explosion-induced shifting of the sash frame perpendicular to a tilt axis in the hinges can be resisted.
Abstract:
A motorized drive unit for a horizontally sliding door section comprising a unitary housing assembly holding a drive motor and a floor-engaging wheel driven from the motor. A vertical lead screw fixedly positioned vertically on this housing assembly threadedly engages a nut fixedly positioned on the door section, so that the wheel can be raised from engagement with the floor. The housing assembly is slidable vertically on a support plate attached to the door section. A support member for the nut is attached to the same support plate.
Abstract:
A door assembly in a construction for preventing the transition of interference fields, in particular of high-frequency electromagnetic fields, into a space, wherein the contact zone between the door and a stationary structure is sealed by a labyrinth construction which attenuates the transition of interference fields. In prior art constructions, the provision of such labyrinth constructions increases the difficulty of door operation as a result of the high compression force which is required for closing the door as well as the tendency of the pivoting movement of the door to damage the labyrinth construction. In order to overcome this problem, apparatus are provided such that the movement of the door comprises the usual pivoting movement thereof with respect to an axis and, additionally, a substantially linear controlled final path of movement during which a contact preventing the transition of interference fields is produced.
Abstract:
Various systems and methods are provided for controlling access to the insulated glass space of a fenestration unit. A hinge lug is provided including a lug body having a mounting portion, a cam portion defining a curved cam surface, and a retention portion projecting from the cam portion, and a first retention arm extending from the lug body such that the retention arm is elastically deflectable away from the retention lip. A restrictor link is provided including a restrictor link body having a first end and a second end, wherein the restrictor link body is elastically deflectable, a securing lock positioned proximate the second end, and a cap extending from the securing lock, the cap defining an engaging surface operable to engage the lip channel of the sash. A latch system is provided including a latch base with a ramp access aperture and a latch body including a ramp.
