The diagnostic system includes a management device that receives and manages management information including at least information of print volume of an image forming apparatus for a predetermined period, a determination device that determines an optimum image forming apparatus based on the information of print volume in the predetermined period managed by the management device, and a notification device that notifies information indicative of the optimum image forming apparatus determined by the determination device to an information processing apparatus that is capable of communication via a communication line.

A universal media selector is provided that includes a universal paper catalog, an editor, a paper catalog translator and a tray associator. The universal paper catalog is a two-dimensional array that includes one or more entries that associate a media label with corresponding media attributes. The editor may be used to create, import, export and edit paper catalog entries in the universal paper catalog. The paper catalog translator is a two-dimensional array that may be used to translate attribute labels and associated values in the universal paper catalog to corresponding attribute names and associated values used in device-specific paper catalogs of printers included in the cluster printing system. The tray associator is a two-dimensional array that associates paper catalog entries in the universal paper catalog to device-specific media trays (and optionally other media attributes) of printers included in the cluster printing system.

摘要： Each agent unit gets status information indicating the state of each of network printers connected by a LAN from the network printers every first time period. Whenever each agent unit gets the status information from the network printer, it overwrites a status log data file with the gotten status information. Each agent unit converts all status information stored in the status log data file into status mail of electronic mail and transmits the status mail to a mail server every second time period longer than the first time period. On the other hand, a console unit accesses the mail server and reads the status mail in a proper time period to the console unit.

摘要： An image forming apparatus supervising system includes a central control apparatus, a plurality of image forming apparatuses each having a memory and connected to the central control apparatus with a communication line, and a data communication apparatus connected to the plurality of image forming apparatuses and the central control apparatus using a communication line. An information code data transmitting device transmits information code data, having a plurality of levels in which character data is respectively included from the central control apparatus to the image forming apparatus, and a data reading device reads data corresponding to the information code data from the memory. A response data transmitting device transmits the data read from the memory to the central control apparatus via the data communication apparatus and the communication line. The central control apparatus changes all character data included in one or more levels lower than a prescribed level of the information code data with particular character data before transmitting the information code data when reading all data in the memory, which accords with character data included in one or more levels higher than the prescribed level of the information code data. Further, the data reading device reads only data of the memory which accords with the character data not changed with the particular character data when receiving the information code data.

摘要： A center system included in a remote control system is disclosed for controlling a plurality of apparatuses including at least an image forming apparatus, based on information received by way of a telecommunication network interconnected to the apparatuses. On receiving the information concerning pre-maintenance from any one of the apparatuses such as a facsimile apparatus, copying machine and others, which are divided into a predetermined number of groups, the center system instructs to collect the information related to the pre-maintenance from all of the plurality of apparatuses included in the same groups. Alternatively, the center system may also instruct to accumulate the received information into a temporal reception data base, and to retrieve the information related to that received from all other apparatuses in the same groups from the temporal reception data base.

摘要： A recording apparatus managing system for automatically totalizing and managing the conditions of use of recording apparatuses. When a date of collection of management data is set by a collection-date setting device of a host computer, a determination is made by a holidaypresence-or-absence determining device as to whether or not the collection date falls on a holiday. If it does not fall on a holiday, an automatic collection device is operated on that set day, an instruction for transferring the management data is transmitted from the host computer to a relay apparatus, and the management data held by the relay apparatus is transferred to the host computer. In addition, if it is determined that the set date falls on a holiday, the automatic collection/transfer device is operated by a setdate automatic changing device on a day other than the holiday, and the management data is automatically collected from the relay apparatus by the host computer. The management data collected from the relay apparatus by the host computer is automatically supplied to a high-order host computer on the date of supply set in advance.
