Abstract:
The DC switch includes a housing (2) provided with a power connection terminal (2a) adapted in use to be connected to a power source, and a load connection terminal (2b) adapted in use to be connected to a load. A contact unit (1) is interposed between the power connection terminal (2a) and the load connection terminal (2b). The contact unit (1) has mechanical contacts (10), and a semiconductor switch (11) serially connected to the mechanical contacts (10). The DC switch further includes a switching mechanism unit (3) having an operating handle (30) used for manual operation and movably attached to the housing (2), a position detection unit (4) configured to detect an operating position of the operating handle (30), and a control unit (7). The switching mechanism unit (3) is configured to open and close the mechanical contacts (10) in response to the manual operation of the operating handle (30). The control unit (7) is configured to turn on the semiconductor switch (11) upon judging that the operating handle (30) has been moved to a close position from an open position based on the operating position detected by the position detection unit (4).
Abstract:
An operation detection device for an overcurrent protection component is provided. The overcurrent protection component has a closed state and an open state and outputs a transition event responsive to a transition between the closed state and the open state. The operation detection device includes a housing configured to attach to the overcurrent protection component. A sensor is positioned in the housing at a location selected to allow the sensor to detect the transition event. A switch circuit is operatively coupled to the sensor and is configured to generate an output signal indicating a change in state of the overcurrent protection component responsive to detection of the transition event by the sensor.
Abstract:
A solid state power control module contains non-volatile memory. A switch for opening is provided to break a supply of power to a component. The switch is operable to trip (open) when an undesirable condition is detected, and further to be opened upon receiving a control signal. A status of the switch is stored in the non-volatile memory. A detector is provided for identifying when a module has been mounted in a housing, and communicates with the non-volatile memory if it is determined that the module is newly installed in a housing. A system and method are also claimed.
Abstract:
A power switchgear having an action monitoring function by an IC tag with a sensor includes: a main body including a switching section carrying out switching action; an operating mechanism including a switching operation section mechanically connected to the switching section so as to carry out switching operation of the switching section; and an action monitoring section monitoring an action of the switching operation section and wirelessly communicating with an external equipment. The action monitoring section includes an IC tag with sensor attached to a portion of the switching operation section and a case surrounding at least a portion of the switching operation section including the IC tag with a sensor.
Abstract:
A device for sensing the position of a contact carrier of a contact includes a housing, a sensor supported by the housing and a latch that is movable by the contact carrier. The latch has a latch member located in proximity to the sensor and that is generally non-reflective. The sensor is configured to sense a presence or an absence of the latch member at one particular location depending upon the position of the contact carrier. A method of sensing position of a contact carrier of a contact module is also presented.
Abstract:
An oil-immersed circuit breaker is provided having a mechanical/magnetic trip indicator. In a preferred embodiment, the trip indicator comprises a mechanical drive train (coupled to a conventional trip-sensing mechanism), a push piece, and an indicator piece. The drive train and the push piece are located inside the enclosure immersed in oil. The indicator piece is located outside the enclosure. The push piece is magnetically coupled to the indicator piece. Magnetic coupling eliminates problems encountered with prior art trip indicators associated with oil-seal leakage, electrical component failure, and power source failure.
Abstract:
A safety switch that includes a body, a number of contacts, a movable plunger, a signal emitter, and a signal detector. The signal emitter and signal detector are positioned proximate the plunger and configured to assess the operability of the safety switch. The plunger is configured to selectively allow or prevent passage of a signal emitted from the signal emitter toward the signal detector depending on a position of the plunger. Control circuitry in connection with the signal detector is arranged to generate a control signal based on the detection of the emitted signal and configured to control operation of the safety switch independent of the relative position of the number of contacts.
Abstract:
A miniature switchgear device 10, of the type used, for example, in power supply installation boards and consumer units, has a trip function for isolating an installation 52 from an electrical supply 50 depending on an electrical condition of the installation 52. The device 10 has a front face 14 configured to be accessible to a consumer during use. Means 62 are provided for generating a signal indicative of an electrical parameter of the installation 52 during supply of electrical current thereto. Means 16, 68, 70 are further provided for presenting an indication corresponding to the signal to the front face 14 for display to the consumer.
Abstract:
In a high voltage system having a device for optical detection of a parameter of a high voltage device, an optically detectable code is provided in the detection range of the device and permits an assignment of the parameter to a specific location in the high voltage system.
Abstract:
A pedal displacement sensor includes an actuating lever and a switching element. The actuating lever is arranged in a housing, is rotatably supported on a rotational axis, and can be rotated by a pedal. The actuating element of the switching element is actuated by rotating the actuating lever. The housing of the pedal displacement sensor has an opening. The actuating lever extends through the opening to an end which engages the pedal. The actuating lever includes first and second arms which form an angle lever. The first arm is rotatably supported in the housing. The second arm extends through the opening to an end face which contacts the pedal lever. The actuating lever preferably also acts upon a transducer such as a Hall sensor and a permanent magnet.
