Abstract: To reduce hydrocarbons existing inside the inner space of a PDP to thereby realize a PDP providing a high-quality picture and having a long life. A catalyst reacting with hydrocarbons is provided on protective layer (8) formed on front panel (1) and barrier ribs (12), phosphor layers (13), and base dielectric layer (11) formed on back panel (2), in an exposed manner to the inner space of the PDP, so that the hydrocarbons are oxidized or decomposed by the catalytic activity of the catalyst with the hydrocarbons.

Abstract: A plasma display panel includes a first substrate and a second substrate that partially define a plurality of discharge cells in a space therebetween, and an electrode structure including an address electrode extending along a first direction, a dielectric layer formed on the address electrode, a first electrode extending along a second direction intersecting the first direction, and a second electrode extending along the second direction intersecting the first direction, where the first electrode and the second electrode are electrically insulated from the address electrode, and at least a portion of each of the first electrode and the second electrode is associated with each of the discharge cells. At least one of the address electrode and the dielectric layer associated with each of the discharge cells may include a first portion and a second portion. The first portion may have a first thickness along a third direction and the second portion may have a second thickness along the third direction, where the third direction intersects the first direction and the second direction. The first thickness may be different from the second thickness.

Abstract: A plasma display panel is provided which is free from blisters and pinholes on its dielectric layers and has excellent characteristics of breakdown voltage. The plasma display panel has a multilayered first dielectric layer covering a display electrode including a scanning electrode and a sustain electrode that are provided on a front substrate, and a multilayered second dielectric layer covering a data electrode that is provided on a back substrate. The periphery of an upper dielectric layer of the first dielectric layer and/or the second dielectric layer is positioned identically or partially in size and shape to a periphery of a lower dielectric layer to be formed.

Abstract: A plasma display panel includes a lower substrate and an upper substrate facing each other. A plurality of barrier ribs is arranged between the lower substrate and the upper substrate and partitions the discharge space to form a plurality of discharge cells. First and second sustaining electrodes are formed as pairs in the discharge cells on the upper substrate, and third and fourth sustaining electrodes, which are arranged in the barrier ribs, are formed as pairs facing each other in the discharge cells. A surface discharge occurs between the first and second sustaining electrodes, and a facing discharge occurs between the third and fourth sustaining electrodes.

Abstract: There is provided a plasma display panel having an improved dielectric layer and a method of manufacturing the plasma display panel. The method of manufacturing the plasma display panel comprises the steps of: forming electrodes in a direction on a substrate; cleaning the substrate on which the electrodes are formed; coating the substrate with dielectric paste; drying the dielectric paste; and firing the dielectric paste and forming a dielectric layer having a single layer. Accordingly, it is possible to form a dielectric layer for a plasma display panel having reduced bubbles and an excellent transmittance.
