    摘要: A digital radio receiver system and method are provided for receiving signals from multiple transmission sources and providing dynamic data buffering. The system includes an antenna for receiving signals from multiple sources, a tuner for selecting certain frequency signals, and a digital demodulator for demodulating the tuned selected signals. The system also includes a memory buffer having memory locations and capable of storing data clusters. The system further has a controller for controlling the cluster of data stored in the memory buffer. The controller selects from at least first and second clusters of data, depending strength of signal of a received buffer source.

    摘要: A satellite-based digital audio radio (SDAR) receiver is configured to temporarily store data that may be transmitted to the SDAR receiver at a time inconvenient to the subscriber. A memory arrangement buffers data output by a channel decoder. The SDAR receiver can use the buffered data prior to using any currently transmitted data. The buffered data is associated with buffered timing information that lags behind the current timing information associated with the currently transmitted data. The buffered data is available for use only once before a decryption subsystem receives the current timing information. If the subscriber uses the currently transmitted data, the decryption subsystem receives the current timing information. The decryption subsystem decrypts only data that is associated with timing information that is no earlier than the latest timing information received by the decryption subsystem. Accordingly, the buffered data becomes unavailable once the decryption subsystem receives the current timing information.

    摘要: Methods and systems to efficiently share multiple satellites and associated transponders or links among a network of uplinking earth stations are disclosed. An embodiment of this invention uses a terrestrial communications link, such as the Internet, to control access to the transponder or satellite links. Communications over this link may employ a TCP/IP protocol to connect the requesting uplinking earth stations with a centralized controller. This control system creates more efficient use of satellite resources and reduces the overall amount of time needed for transmitting data through the satellite. By reducing the overall amount of time needed for transmitting data, the control system may reduce the cost of using the satellite transponder capacity.

This results in the simplification and increased flexibility of the receiver front-end design without affecting the overall system performance. In many current communications systems with frame headers and pilot symbols, the phases of frame headers and pilot syrnbols are not designed to be aligned with any constellation points of the modulated data from the frame body. This scrambling scheme takes into account possible impact due to irregular phase changes between frame headers/pilot symbols and modulated data.

    摘要: An efficient method for providing both dedicated and simulcast services over a common wireless infrastructure is described. The services can be terminal as well as to a multiplicity of terminals simultaneously. The method uses time division multiplexing and orthogonal frequency division multiple access for simulcasting information and transmitting dedicated message information from a plurality of base stations forming a cellular pattern over the same wireless frequency channel. The method comprises the steps of constructing frames for transmission by the plurality of base stations comprising control information, simulcast information and dedicated message information within predetermined time slots of the frames and allocating the simulcast information and the dedicated message information to time slots of the same frame predetermined by the control information of the frame. The underlying modulation technology used is OFDM and thereby the channel delay-dispersion is minimized.
