Abstract:
A data forwarding system allows receivers with limited capabilities to receive information that was transmitted in a format which the user could not otherwise receive. For example, a receiver which does not include a fax modem may receive faxes which are transmitted to a station. The station receives the fax transmission and transmits it on to the receiver in a format compatible with the receiver's hardware and software. In addition, transactions which occur at a variety of sites may be transmitted to a remote station which then forwards the information about the transactions to the user's receiver. At the receiver, the information may be analyzed using conventional accounting software.
Abstract:
A method and system is disclosed for perfecting the images generated by a KVM switch. Video signals generated by a host computer are transmitted to a client computer in order to allow the user of a client computer to have a virtual presence on the host computer. However, the signals transmitted by the host computer may contain errors that would impair the client user's ability to remotely control the host computer. Therefore this virtual presence architecture uses phase locked loops to compare screen data that is being sent to the client and removes errors so that the user data is properly transmitted and displayed.
Abstract:
A document transmission apparatus reduces troublesome labor of an operator when transmitting document data, inputted from a scanner or the like, by various transmission methods such as electronic mail, facsimile, remote printing and file transfer. An address book containing a receiver and a plurality of transmission methods for transmitting document data to the receiver is generated. Upon transmission instruction, an appropriate transmission method is selected by the receiver, then document data is converted into data of an appropriate data format, and the converted data is transmitted. Further, a notice of transmission indicating that the document data has been transmitted is transmitted to the receiver of the document data by a method different from the transmission method of the document data. Thus, the document data can be reliably delivered to the receiver.
Abstract:
A correlation element 134 correlates a source device with a destination device according to an instruction given by the user. A decision element 122 determines whether or not a certain combination of device classes is operable as a composite device. In the case of the affirmative answer, a determination element 136 identifies the type of the composite device and specifies a user interface for operating the composite device. A data output element 132 then displays the specified user interface in a window on a monitor 170 at a specific timing. This arrangement effectively improves the operatability of the device control.
Abstract:
In accordance with a method and apparatus of the present invention, a voice communication system is disclosed for use in a packet switching network environment including a host server for communicating voice information, initiated by a telephone user, to an electronic mail (email) recipient. A public switching telephone network (PSTN) includes at least one telephone device for communicating the voice information therethrough. The host server is responsive to email messages, transmitted in packet form, through the packet switching network The voice communication system includes a network device responsive to a voice message generated by the telephone user. The voice communication system is operative to convert the voice message to an email message, establish a first connection between the network device and the host server for transmission of the email message, edit the voice message pursuant to commands from the telephone user and transmit the email message, in the form of packets, to the host server for storage thereof and transmission thereafter to the email recipient, wherein the voice message may be manipulated by the telephone user prior to the transmission thereof by the network device without the use of secondary storage within the network device.
Abstract:
A communications device for distributing an image of a paper document to a plurality of recipients having a database comprising a preferred electronic format of each of the recipients and an imaging device for converting the paper document into the preferred electronic format for each recipient in the database prior to distribution of the document in the preferred electronic format.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an image capturing apparatus capable of efficiently transmitting image data to an external device and having improved reliability in data transmission. A data communication mode established between a data communication part and an external device is determined by a communication mode determining part. A compression ratio setting part sets a compression ratio adapted to the data communication mode determined by the communication mode determining part and sets the compression ratio to a compressor. The compressor performs a compressing process on image data to be transmitted on the basis of the set compression ratio. The compressed image data is sent to the data communication part and transmitted to the external device. As image data to be transmitted is compressed at a compression ratio adapted to a data communication mode, the amount of the image data to be transmitted is adjusted in accordance with the data communication mode, so that efficient and highly-reliable data transmission is realized.
Abstract:
The object of the present invention is to provide a digital camera capable of outputting image information suitable for using by peripherals. According to one aspect of the present invention, a digital camera includes an input section that inputs special information related to using images by peripherals, a special memory that stores the special information in advance, a processor that processes image information to be an output image data in accordance with each peripheral on the basis of the special information stored in the special memory, and an output section that outputs the output image data processed by the processor to the
Abstract:
A facsimile apparatus is connected to a mail server, and receives an electric tail from a mail box. A header analyzing unit analyzes a header portion of the received electric mail so as to obtain a sender ID. Next, a transfer determination unit matches the obtained sender ID and a content of a sender ID column of a transfer management table. When a match is found, the transfer determination unit reads a content of a transfer destination ID column corresponding to the sender ID column in the transfer management table and a content of a transfer attribute column. An appended file portion is deleted from the electric mail in accordance with the content of the read transfer attribute column, “deletion process.” Thereafter, the electric mail from which the appended file portion is deleted is transferred to a transfer destination registered in the read transfer destination ID column.
Abstract:
A method and system for showing a presentation to a local and a remote audience is disclosed. The system includes a display device for presenting an information frame to the local audience. Coupled to the display device is a frame capture device for capturing an image of the information frame presented to the local audience. A transmission device, coupled to the display device, transmits the image of the information frame to a remote audience member.
